Almuftah Group is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee day-to-day industrial workshop operations in Qatar. The role requires strong leadership, planning, and fabrication expertise, with a focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery of all workshop activities.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, at least 10 years of workshop experience, and GCC experience, preferably in Qatar.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant workshop experience.
  • Previous GCC experience is mandatory, preferably in Qatar.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily workshop activities including fabrication, mechanical, piping, welding, assembly and repair.
  • Plan manpower, equipment, tools and materials per project.
  • Monitor schedules to ensure timely completion.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, QA/QC, HSE, procurement and stores.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures, standards and client/project specs.
  • Supervise and develop workshop staff.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance and record keeping.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of an industrial workshop, ensuring efficient production, maintenance, manpower utilization, quality, safety, and timely completion of workshop activities. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in fabrication, mechanical works, piping, equipment maintenance, and workshop management, preferably within the Oil & Gas, EPC, or industrial sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise all daily workshop activities, including fabrication, Mechanical, piping, welding, assembly, and repair works.
  • Plan and allocate manpower, equipment, tools, and materials according to project requirements.
  • Monitor workshop production schedules and ensure timely completion of assigned works.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, QA/QC, HSE, Procurement, and Stores teams.
  • Review drawings, specifications, work orders, and project requirements before commencing workshop activities.
  • Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of workshop machinery, equipment, tools, and facilities.
  • Monitor fabrication and assembly activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure all workshop activities are carried out in accordance with approved procedures, quality standards, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections, testing, documentation, and final acceptance.
  • Ensure strict compliance with company HSE policies and applicable Oil & Gas safety standards.
  • Conduct toolbox meetings and ensure workers follow safe working practices and PPE requirements.
  • Monitor productivity, manpower performance, material consumption, and workshop costs.
  • Identify operational issues and implement corrective actions to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Coordinate material requirements with the Stores and Procurement departments.
  • Maintain proper records of production, manpower, equipment utilization, material usage, and workshop progress.
  • Prepare regular progress reports and provide updates to management.
  • Supervise and develop workshop supervisors, foremen, technicians, welders, fabricators, fitters, and other personnel.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance of workshop machinery and equipment is carried out as scheduled.
  • Support project execution teams during mobilization, fabrication, installation, shutdown, and maintenance activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable ASME, API, AWS, ISO, and client/project standards, where applicable.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant workshop experience.
  • Previous GCC experience is mandatory, preferably in Qatar.
  • Strong knowledge of workshop planning, fabrication processes, manpower management, and equipment utilization.
  • Good understanding of QA/QC and HSE requirements in industrial and Oil & Gas environments.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, fabrication drawings, specifications, and project documents.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and relevant workshop/project management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and meet strict project deadlines.
