Job summary

Aventus Global Talent seeks a Chief Risk Officer to lead the enterprise-wide risk strategy in Qatar. You will set policies, oversee risk governance, and report to the CEO and Board, guiding credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk functions.

You will also drive regulatory liaison, capital adequacy oversight, and a resilient risk culture through a high-performing team. A mature institution with GCC exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in risk management with senior leadership in financial services.
• Broad expertise across credit, market, liquidity, and operational risk.
• In-depth Basel II/III, capital adequacy and regulatory frameworks knowledge.
• Proven track record of transforming enterprise risk frameworks.
• Experience engaging with Boards, board committees and regulators at high level.
• GCC or international exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the enterprise-wide risk agenda and budget across financial and non-financial risk.
• Design and refine the risk management framework, including risk appetite, measurement and control.
• Align risk governance with Basel III and corporate strategy.
• Lead the credit, market and liquidity risk functions; oversee credit portfolio oversight.
• Oversee operational resilience, including operational risk, information security and continuity.
• Monitor capital adequacy and regulatory changes; respond proactively when risk profile shifts.
• Build strong relationships with regulators and external stakeholders.
• Ensure audit and internal controls improvements; drive a culture of accountability and integrity.
• Lead, develop and retain a high-performing risk team.
