Gender: Any Candidate Nationality: Any Job Type: Full-time Role Context The Stockroom Assistant supports the flow of merchandise from delivery receipt through storage and sales-floor replenishment. The role requires careful physical counting, accurate electronic recording, proper classification, safe storage, and timely issue of products to retail teams. Efficient stockroom management helps prevent inventory discrepancies, reduces product damage, improves merchandise availability, and enables sales staff to respond quickly when customers require specific products or sizes. The position also contributes to stock security, housekeeping, and reliable Stock Take results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive incoming merchandise and verify quantities through physical counting and electronic inventory records.
  • Compare delivered items against available stock information to identify quantity discrepancies.
  • Inspect incoming merchandise for visible damage, defects, or quality concerns.
  • Report damaged products or stock discrepancies promptly to the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.
  • Classify merchandise according to product category, store procedures, and designated stockroom locations.
  • Store products in an organized manner to ensure quick retrieval when required by the sales team.
  • Tag newly received merchandise according to approved store procedures.
  • Process product returns when instructed by senior team members and ensure associated stock records are updated.
  • Assist sales employees with replenishing shelves, fixtures, and product displays throughout the trading day.
  • Monitor stock availability and support timely movement of merchandise from the stockroom to the sales floor.
  • Record all inventory inward and outward movements accurately.
  • Maintain stock movement reports and support reconciliation when discrepancies are identified.
  • Check merchandise for missing price tags and report affected items for corrective action.
  • Help ensure that stock remains secure and that store security procedures are followed consistently.
  • Maintain vigilance when handling or moving merchandise to minimize stock loss.
  • Keep stockroom areas clean, organized, safe, and free from unnecessary obstruction.
  • Follow housekeeping standards for shelving, storage areas, cartons, and stock-handling zones.
  • Handle merchandise carefully to reduce damage during receipt, storage, and replenishment.
  • Assist with periodic and scheduled Stock Take processes.
  • Support physical stock counts and help verify inventory quantities during reconciliation.
  • Remain flexible to work extended hours during sales campaigns, festivals, promotional periods, and high-volume trading days.
  • Perform physically demanding duties including lifting, carrying, and moving merchandise weighing at least 10 kg.

Ideal Profile

The preferred candidate will have previous experience in a retail stockroom, warehouse, inventory, logistics, receiving, or similar merchandise-handling role. Accuracy is important because the position involves physical stock counts, electronic inventory records, inward and outward movements, tagging, and Stock Take activities. Candidates should be organized and able to maintain stock in clearly classified locations so products can be retrieved quickly when required. A good understanding of basic inventory procedures, merchandise handling, stock security, housekeeping, and replenishment will be advantageous. The successful candidate should be physically fit and comfortable lifting merchandise weighing 10 kg or more as part of regular duties. Flexibility is also required to support extended operating hours during sales periods, festivals, and other high-demand retail seasons.
