The Geotechnical / Soil Improvement Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support for geotechnical investigations, soil improvement, ground treatment, foundation-related works, and construction activities. The position requires strong practical and technical experience in soil improvement methods, geotechnical analysis, site supervision, testing, quality control, and project execution.

The Engineer shall ensure that geotechnical and soil improvement works are planned, designed, executed, monitored, and documented in accordance with project specifications, approved methodologies, international standards, and applicable local requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise geotechnical investigations, ground improvement, soil stabilization, and related field activities.
• Review geotechnical investigation data, soil profiles, laboratory test results, groundwater conditions, and site information.
• Assess ground conditions and provide engineering recommendations for foundations, earthworks, embankments, excavations, and soil improvement requirements.
• Design, review, and monitor soil improvement solutions such as dynamic compaction, vibro-compaction, vibro-replacement, stone columns, rigid inclusions, grouting, deep soil mixing, preloading, vertical drains, soil stabilization, and other ground improvement techniques, as applicable to the project.
• Prepare and review technical calculations, design reports, method statements, specifications, technical submissions, and engineering reports.
• Review contractors' proposals, method statements, design submissions, calculations, and technical documentation related to geotechnical and soil improvement works.
• Supervise and monitor field implementation of soil improvement works to ensure compliance with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements.
• Coordinate and interpret field and laboratory testing, including SPT, CPT/CPTu, plate load tests, density tests, permeability tests, settlement monitoring, and other relevant geotechnical tests.
• Review ground improvement verification and acceptance testing and evaluate test results against project criteria.
• Monitor settlement, bearing capacity, compaction, ground response, groundwater conditions, and other relevant performance parameters.
• Identify geotechnical risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
• Provide technical support for excavation, temporary works, foundations, earthworks, retaining systems, and other geotechnical construction activities.
• Coordinate with project managers, structural engineers, civil engineers, surveyors, laboratory personnel, contractors, consultants, and clients.
• Conduct site inspections and provide technical guidance to engineers, technicians, and site personnel.
• Ensure that geotechnical and soil improvement works comply with applicable ASTM, BS, EN, ISO, project specifications, and other relevant standards.
• Review project drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, BOQs, and contractual requirements.
• Monitor progress, quality, productivity, and technical performance of assigned geotechnical works.
• Prepare technical reports, inspection reports, progress reports, test summaries, and project documentation.
• Investigate technical problems, non-conformities, and unexpected ground conditions and recommend corrective actions.
• Support preparation of project proposals, technical offers, methodologies, work programmes, and cost estimates where required.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of geotechnical records, calculations, test results, inspection records, and monitoring data.
• Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with project HSE requirements.
• Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Perform other geotechnical engineering duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
• More than 10 years of relevant overall professional engineering experience.
• More than 7 years of specific experience in geotechnical engineering, soil improvement, ground improvement, foundation engineering, or related activities.
• Relevant Middle Eastern experience is required, preferably in Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, or Bahrain
• Strong knowledge of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering principles.
• Good understanding of soil investigation and characterization.
• Practical experience with ground and soil improvement techniques.
• Knowledge of settlement analysis, bearing capacity, consolidation, compaction, slope stability, and groundwater conditions.
• Familiarity with geotechnical design and analysis software such as PLAXIS, GEO5, gINT, AutoCAD, or equivalent is an advantage.
• Knowledge of relevant ASTM, BS, EN, ISO, and project-specific standards.
• Ability to review engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical submissions.
• Strong technical report-writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to identify and resolve technical and construction-related geotechnical problems.

Pay: From QAR13,000.00 per month
