Job summary

Advanced Construction Technology Services is hiring a Senior Geotechnical Inspector to oversee site inspections of geotechnical and earthwork activities, ensuring compliance with drawings, specs, and standards. The successful candidate will monitor compliance with ITPs, prepare daily reports, and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and clients while maintaining thorough documentation and safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 15+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Minimum 10 years of Middle Eastern experience in Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, or Bahrain.
• Experience in geotechnical inspection, earthworks, soil testing, ground improvement, or related activities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections of geotechnical, earthwork, excavation, backfilling, compaction, and foundation-related activities.
• Monitor geotechnical works to ensure compliance with drawings, specs, method statements, ITPs, and project requirements.
• Inspect soil preparation, filling, backfilling, grading, compaction, and subgrade preparation activities.
• Monitor ground improvement works such as dynamic/ vibro-compaction, stone columns, grouting, soil stabilization, preloading.
• Witness and record field testing (SPT, CPT/CPTu, plate load tests, field density tests, permeability tests, etc).
• Verify materials for earthworks and ground improvement comply with specifications.
• Review borehole logs, field records, lab tests, and geotechnical investigation info.
• Inspect excavation activities and monitor soil and groundwater conditions.
• Monitor foundation prep, formation levels, bearing surfaces, and subgrade conditions.

Position Summary

The Senior Geotechnical Inspector is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and documenting geotechnical and earthwork activities at project sites to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, standards, and project quality requirements. The position requires practical experience in geotechnical investigations, soil testing, earthworks, foundations, excavation, compaction, ground improvement, and field inspection activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections of geotechnical, earthwork, excavation, backfilling, compaction, and foundation-related activities.
• Monitor geotechnical works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, inspection and test plans, and project requirements.
• Inspect soil preparation, filling, backfilling, grading, compaction, and subgrade preparation activities.
• Monitor and inspect ground improvement works such as dynamic compaction, vibro-compaction, stone columns, grouting, soil stabilization, preloading, and other applicable techniques.
• Witness and record field testing, including SPT, CPT/CPTu, plate load tests, field density tests, permeability tests, compaction tests, and other relevant geotechnical tests.
• Verify that materials used for earthworks and ground improvement comply with approved specifications and project requirements.
• Review borehole logs, field records, laboratory test results, and geotechnical investigation information as required.
• Inspect excavation activities and monitor soil and groundwater conditions.
• Monitor foundation preparation, formation levels, bearing surfaces, and subgrade conditions before construction proceeds.
• Identify non-conforming work, defective conditions, or deviations from approved requirements and report them to the responsible engineer.
• Prepare daily inspection reports, checklists, site records, photographic records, and other required documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, laboratory technicians, surveyors, engineers, and project representatives.
• Attend inspections and testing with clients, consultants, and contractors when required.
• Verify that corrective actions arising from inspections and non-conformities are properly implemented.
• Monitor site activities for compliance with applicable ASTM, BS, EN, ISO, project specifications, and approved procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of inspection requests, test results, site observations, material approvals, and geotechnical activities.
• Assist engineers in monitoring settlement, ground movement, compaction, groundwater, and other geotechnical performance parameters.
• Assist in the collection and verification of field data required for geotechnical reports and technical documentation.
• Report unexpected ground conditions or geotechnical risks immediately to the responsible engineer.
• Ensure that inspection activities are carried out in accordance with project HSE requirements and safe working practices.
• Support quality assurance and quality control activities related to geotechnical works.
• Perform other duties related to geotechnical inspection and site activities as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Relevant technical qualifications or certifications in geotechnical inspection, soil testing, earthworks, or construction inspection will be an advantage.
• More than 15 years of relevant professional experience.
• Specific experience in geotechnical inspection, earthworks, soil testing, ground improvement, foundation works, or related activities.
• Minimum 10 years of Middle Eastern experience is required, preferably in Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, or Bahrain.

Technical Competencies

• Good understanding of soil mechanics and basic geotechnical engineering principles.
• Practical knowledge of earthworks, soil classification, compaction, excavation, backfilling, and subgrade preparation.
• Knowledge of geotechnical field testing and inspection procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, method statements, and inspection and test plans.
• Familiarity with soil and aggregate laboratory and field testing.
• Understanding of ground improvement and soil stabilization techniques.
• Ability to identify construction defects, non-conformities, and deviations from specifications.
• Knowledge of relevant ASTM, BS, EN, ISO, and project-specific standards.
• Basic knowledge of surveying and level verification is advantageous.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and relevant inspection/reporting systems.

Pay: From QAR15,000.00 per month
