Job summary

UCC Holding seeks a Head of Shipping to lead the company''s shipping and freight function, overseeing vessel chartering, freight risk management, and logistics coordination for safe, compliant, and cost-efficient transportation of commodity cargoes.

You will interface between trading, operations, and the shipping market, and oversee demurrage and claims performance across the fleet, driving safety and continuous improvement across shipping activities.

Qualifications

10–15 years in shipping, chartering or freight trading with leadership experience.
Proven chartering and freight risk management track record.
Strong knowledge of charter party terms and freight markets.
Expertise in FFAs and freight hedging.
Maritime regulations, vetting, and HSE standards.
Excellent negotiation and counterparty management.

Responsibilities

Lead vessel chartering activities, including voyage and time charters to support trading and logistics.
Negotiate freight rates and charter party terms with shipowners and brokers.
Manage freight market exposure using FFAs and other freight derivatives.
Monitor freight market trends and advise trading desks on freight cost implications.
Oversee vessel nomination, scheduling, and voyage performance monitoring.
Ensure vessel vetting, safety, and quality standards are met (SIRE, screening).
Oversee demurrage calculations, claims, and dispute resolution with Demurrage & Claims team.
Ensure timely and accurate laytime documentation and settlement.
Build and maintain relationships with shipowners, charterers, brokers, and P&I clubs.
Negotiate commercial terms and manage counterparty performance.
Ensure compliance with maritime regulations, sanctions, IMO standards, and internal HSE policy.
