Job summary

QatarEnergy in Doha is seeking a senior chartering professional to negotiate and execute shipping contracts in the bulk freight market, focusing on growth and profitability in close coordination with the Assistant Manager, Shipping and Operations.

You will leverage deep knowledge of chartering and freight markets across geographies, working with external clients, shipowners and brokers to provide high‑quality options and manage risk.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience with at least 5 years in chartering for IOC/NOC or reputable shipping company.
• Strong knowledge of chartering/freight markets across geographies.

Job description

Primary Purpose of the Job

Negotiate and execute shipping contracts in the bulk shipping freight market. Develop the freight and chartering activity and ensure its continued growth and profitability in close coordination with the Asst. Manger, Shipping and Operations. Manage freight requirements from the Sales and Planning teams, engaging with an external client base, Shipowners and Shipbrokers as required.

Required Experience and Skills

Candidates with a strong record and experience in Chartering in Muntajat, QatarEnergy, QPSPP or QG may be considered. Minimum of 8 years' experience of relevant work experience, with minimum of 5 years’ experience in Chartering with leading IOC, NOC or reputable shipping company. Strong knowledge of Chartering/Freight Market on a variety of different contracts across different geographies will be beneficial. Ability to leverage on functional support and provide high quality options and opinions to commercial stakeholders while identifying risks and opportunities. A key criterion is to be able to operate within a non-standard environment where the counterparty requires and expects considerable support and at the same time be able to gently introduce standardization and efficiency Multi-disciplinary knowledge and broad competence is required in areas such as trading, risk control, sales operations, commercial, financial, contract administration, legal, economic analysis and projects. Excellent negotiation skills, communication and interpersonal skills. Top level written and verbal communication skills. Excellent client and internal stakeholder management skills. Ability to take fast risk-based decisions, sometimes based on limited amount of information.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in economics, Law, Business Administration or equivalent from an internationally recognized university. Postgraduate Qualification (MSc. or MBA) preferred.
