Job summary

Tanqeeb in Qatar is seeking a Head of Shipping to lead vessel chartering, freight risk management, and logistics for commodity cargoes. You will bridge trading, operations and the shipping market to ensure safe, compliant and cost-efficient transport.

You will oversee demurrage and claims, manage counterparty relationships, and drive adherence to maritime regulations and HSE standards while mentoring the shipping team to achieve reliable deliveries.

Qualifications

10-15 years of experience in shipping, chartering or freight trading with leadership responsibility.
Proven track record in vessel chartering, freight risk management, and demurrage/claims oversight.
Strong knowledge of charter party terms and freight markets.
Expertise in freight derivatives and hedging.
Solid understanding of maritime regulations, vetting and HSE standards.

Responsibilities

Lead vessel chartering activities to support trading and logistics.
Negotiate freight rates and charter party terms with shipowners and brokers.
Manage freight market exposure using FFAs and other derivatives.
Oversee vessel nomination, scheduling, and voyage performance monitoring.
Ensure vessel vetting, safety and quality standards are met (SIRE, etc.).
Oversee demurrage calculations, claims, and dispute resolution with the team.
Build and maintain relationships with shipowners, charterers, brokers and P&I clubs.
Ensure compliance with regulations, sanctions and internal HSE policy.
Partner with Trading, Operations and Legal to align shipping strategy with delivery commitments.
Lead and develop the shipping team and promote safety and continuous improvement.
