Job summary

Nebras Energy seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Water to lead maintenance activities for water treatment and power assets in Qatar. You will plan, coordinate resources, and ensure safety and reliability of RO systems and multistage flash evaporators.

The role requires hands-on diagnostic skills, hands-on operation experience, and the ability to train staff, including Qatari nationals, while maintaining quality and cost control.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (mandatory).
• 8+ years of experience in energy/power sector.
• Experience in power/energy and water sectors.
• Proven problem-solving and analytical thinking.
• English proficiency mandatory; Arabic language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review defect cards, work orders, and resource needs for assigned areas.
• Receive work permits and organize resources for planned tasks.
• Assist in scoping of work and risk assessments for maintenance.
• Identify frequently used spare parts and suggest stock levels.
• Execute planned inspections, major overhauls, and breakdown maintenance.
• Mobilize manpower, equipment, and tools on-site.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks and maintain 4C safety cards.
• Report daily on progress, issues, and resources.
• Assist in diagnosing faults in plant machinery.
• Provide technical training to staff, including Qatari nationals.
• Inspect spare parts in the main store and aid fabricators and machinists.
• Monitor area budget performance and report variances.
• Implement policies and procedures for the team.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability.

Job Function: Engineering , Maintenance, Experience in multistage flash evaporator & reverse osmosis systems

Responsibilities

• Review and assess defect cards, work orders, and resource requirements, such as manpower, materials, spares, equipment for assigned areas.
• Receive work permits and organize resources to execute planned and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Assist in preparing the scope of work and risk assessments for maintenance activities.
• Identify frequently used spare parts and suggest stock inventory levels.
• Execute planned inspections, major overhauls, breakdown maintenance, and major repair works.
• Mobilize manpower, equipment, and tools on-site to carry out permitted works.
• Conduct daily toolbox talks and maintain 4C safety cards.
• Report daily on work progress, issues, and resource needs.
• Assist in diagnosing faults and breakdowns in plant machinery and equipment.
• Provide technical training to the staff, including Qatari nationals, ensuring skill enhancement and compliance with safety standards.
• Assist in the inspection of spare parts in the main store and aid fabricators and machinists in developing necessary machine parts.
• Monitor the financial performance of a given area of activity versus budgets and ensure all activities are carried out in line with the approved guidelines while promptly reporting on any variances to management.
• Provide inputs and implement policies, systems and procedure for the assigned team so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled, while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
• Participate in the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability of systems, processes and practices considering global standards, productivity improvement and cost reduction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a reputable university is required (Mandatory).
• 8 years of experience in similar roles in large companies within the Energy or Power sector is essential.
• Good understanding of power/energy and water sectors, emerging trends and technologies.
• Demonstrated hands-on operational and implementation experience.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and analytical thinking skills.
• English proficiency (Mandatory), while Arabic language skills are a plus.
