Job summary

Nakilat in Doha seeks a senior commercial and chartering leader to manage LNG/LPG shipping activities, drive strategy, and optimize fleet utilization. You will lead negotiations, oversee chartering, and coordinate with market players to maximize opportunities.

You will mentor teams, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and report to the Chief Commercial & Business Development Officer, shaping Nakilat’s growth in a dynamic energy market.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of shipping commercial management and chartering/operations.
• Strong negotiation leadership and track record.
• Strong analytical and business evaluation skills, including project/investment analysis.
• Project management skills are an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the formulation of the divisional strategy in alignment with Nakilat strategy and support its implementation.
• Translate the divisional strategy into annual operational business plans and ensure their implementation, as well as follow up and take corrective actions as needed.
• Manage and direct chartering and post fixture operations of LNG/LPG vessels to maximize utilization under Nakilat's Commercial management.
• Maintain close dialogue with market players, brokers, and potential customers.
• Provide guidance on Charter Party terms.
• Manage vessel charter-party performance claims and monitor performance against charter party requirements.
• Monitor vessels’ performance in line with TCP warranties and address underperformance observations.
• Liaise with fleet managers to balance customers’/charterers’ requirements, safety, and efficient vessel operations.
• Stay abreast of trading patterns/routes and regulatory trends to ensure optimal fleet utilization and vessel efficiency.
• Lead efforts in identifying and analyzing business opportunities; provide recommendations to senior management.
• Act as commercial project manager for new deals and potential acquisitions.
• Participate in/advise on contract negotiations including joint ventures, shipbuilding contracts, and charter parties.
• Oversee commercial and chartering analysis including market direction, forecasts, evaluation, and KPI tracking.
• Collaborate with the commercial analysis team on assumptions for chartering opportunities.
• Identify possible business opportunities and process enhancements in chartering.
• Manage department staff and teams, oversee performance management, recruitment, training, and development.
• Contribute to change initiatives aligned with best practice.
