Job summary

Madre Integrated Engineering is seeking personnel for full-time scrap handling roles at a steel plant. Responsibilities include sorting nonferrous and nonstandard materials, ensuring segregated scrap stock for multiple charges, and coordinating with operators to maintain uninterrupted supply of scrap and additives.

The role requires at least a higher secondary or technical diploma, English literacy, and a minimum of 3 years in steel plant scrap, slag, and ferro alloys handling, with

Qualifications

• Higher Secondary School or Technical Diploma or equivalent qualification.
• Literacy in English (read and write).
• Minimum 3 years experience at steel plant in Scrap handling, Slag handling & Ferro alloys handling.
• Certified for Handling & Inspection of Hazardous Scrap Materials.

Responsibilities

• Identify and sort nonferrous, airtight, nonstandard material while supplying to maintain segregated scrap stock for 2 to 3 charges in advance.
• Follow Scrap segregation and loading of scrap into dump truck as per HIRA and operating procedures.
• Coordinate with equipment operators, Pulpit operators, Truck scale operator and shift in charge for uninterrupted scrap supply.
• Control unauthorized dumping at scrap supply area.
• Receive additive requirements and ensure correct materials are supplied to EAF/LAF and to check with equipment and conveying system.
• Coordinate with nominated Dump truck and wheel loader for identifying, supply of additives and weighment at Trucks scale.
• Operate lime storage silos to supply and receiving dolo lime to the hoppers and coordinate with lime calcined plant for receiving lime to storage silo or alloy pit.
• Prepare material received in bags at alloy pit and ensure no foreign material carries over with additives.
• Coordinate with EAF shift in charge to start conveyors for charging requested materials.
• Follow operating procedures and HIRA pertaining to these jobs.
• Maintain slag pot cycle and confirm slag pot temperature as per procedures.
• Inspect loaded slag pot from rear side after lifting to ensure normality, and give go-ahead signal if normal.
• Maintain slag pit floor to place slag pot properly.
• Assist slag pot carrier operator for safe placing/removal at slag pit and coordinate with SPC operator when safe access provided or evacuation required.
• Coordinate with EAF control room or shift in charge for any emergency.
• Handle abnormal slag pots as per operating procedure.
• Implement traffic restrictions during abnormal slag pot handling and molten slag overflow.

Additive Supply

• To receive the requirement of additives to be supplied to EAF/LAF and to check with equipment and conveying system.
• To monitor right material is supplied to right hoppers as per the operating procedure.
• To coordinate with nominated Dump truck and wheel loader for identifying, supply of additives and to provide weighment of each material at Trucks scale
• To operate lime storage silos to supply and receiving Limp lime / Dolo Lime to the hoppers and respective silos, and to coordinate with Lime calcined plant for receiving Dolo/Lime to storage silo or alloy pit.
• To prepare material which is received in bags at alloy pit and to assure that no foreign material carries over with additives.
• To coordinate with EAF shift in charge of starting conveyors of EF ground hopper for charging requested materials.
• To follow operating procedure and HIRA pertaining to this job
• To maintain Slag pot cycle as provided and to confirm slag pot temperature as per operating procedure
• To inspect loaded slag pot from rear side after lifting the slag pot to avoid any abnormalities and to provide go ahead signal in case slag pot is normal
• To maintain slag pit floor to place in slag pot in proper condition.
• To assist in Slag pot carrier operator for safe placing and removal of slag pot at Slag pit and ladle pit, coordinate with SPC operator when safe access provided or evacuation is required from slag pit as per operating procedure.
• To coordinate with EAF control room or shift in charge for any emergency.
• To handle abnormal slag pots as per operating procedure.
• To implement traffic restriction during abnormal slag pot handling and molten slag overflow.
