Job summary

Swan Global is seeking a QC Inspector for offshore shutdowns focused on piping, welding and NDT. The role ensures compliance with project specs, codes and safety standards during critical offshore work.

The candidate will verify certifications, review NDT results, witness welding processes and maintain QA documentation, while coordinating with construction staff and third-party inspectors. Offshore safety certifications and relevant standards familiarity are required.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Welding Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all mechanical, piping and welding activities comply with project specifications, codes and safety standards during offshore shutdowns.
• Inspect piping installations, welding, valve fittings and repairs per ASME B31.3, API 570, and client standards (QP/Qatargas/Shell).
• Verify material certifications (MTCs), WPS/PQR, and NDT reports (RT/UT/MPI/PT).
• Monitor bolt torqueing, flange alignment, and gasket installation.
• Witness welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and ensure compliance with WPS.
• Review NDT results and approve/reject welds.
• Maintain ITRs, punch lists and NCRs; use SAP or ICAP for QA/QC docs.
• Ensure PTW, LOTO and confined space safety protocols are followed; coordinate with supervisors and inspectors.

Job Description:

The QC Inspector ensures all mechanical, piping, and welding activities comply with project specifications, codes, and safety standards during offshore shutdowns.

Key Responsibilities:

• 1. Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Inspect piping installations, welding, valve fitting, and structural repairs per ASME B31.3, API 570, and client standards (QP/Qatargas/Shell).
  • Verify material certifications (MTCs), WPS/PQR, and NDT reports (RT/UT/MPI/PT).
  • Monitor bolt torqueing, flange alignment, and gasket installation.
• 2. Welding & NDT Oversight:
  • Witness welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, FCAW) and ensure compliance with WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications).
  • Review NDT (Radiography, Ultrasonic, Dye Penetrant) results and approve/reject welds.
• 3. Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain inspection test reports (ITRs), punch lists, and non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Use SAP or ICAP systems for QA/QC documentation.
• 4. HSE & Shutdown Coordination:
  • Ensure PTW (Permit to Work), LOTO, and confined space safety protocols are followed.
  • Coordinate with construction supervisors, engineers, and third-party inspectors.

• Education: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Welding Engineering or related field.
• Certifications (Mandatory):
  • CSWIP 3.1/3.2 (Welding Inspection), AWS CWI, or ASNT Level II (RT/UT/MPI/PT).
  • BGAS/NACE (for coating inspection if applicable).
  • BOSIET/HUET (Offshore Safety Certification).
  • 5+ years in oil & gas QC inspection, with 3+ years offshore shutdown experience.
  • Familiarity with QatarEnergy (QP), Shell, or TotalEnergies standards.
  • Proficient in reading P&IDs, isometrics, and ITPs (Inspection Test Plans).
  • Knowledge of SAP, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
