Job summary

Gulf Energy Technology and Projects in Qatar seeks an experienced Project Engineer – Fire Protection Services to lead fire protection engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning on large-scale projects in Oil & Gas/EPC. You will review drawings, coordinate with consultants and subcontractors, and ensure NFPA standards and QCS compliance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a related engineering/technical discipline.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and QCS requirements.
• Experience in oil & gas, EPC, industrial, or large-scale construction projects.
• Proven ability to review and interpret fire protection drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate fire protection engineering and installation activities through the project lifecycle.
• Review and interpret fire protection drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors and other disciplines for smooth execution.
• Ensure all fire protection works comply with NFPA standards, QCS, and project specs.
• Prepare and review shop drawings, submittals, and method statements.
• Coordinate site activities and monitor installation progress, quality, and compliance with drawings.
• Conduct inspections and ensure systems are installed, tested and commissioned as required.
• Support estimation, tendering, planning, procurement and resource requirements.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Project Engineer – Fire Protection Services to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in fire protection systems, project execution, engineering, and site coordination, preferably within Oil & Gas, EPC, industrial, commercial, and large-scale construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and coordinate fire protection engineering and installation activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and interpret fire protection drawings, specifications, technical documents, and project requirements.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure smooth project execution.
• Ensure all fire protection works comply with applicable NFPA standards, QCS requirements, and project specifications.
• Prepare and review shop drawings, material submittals, technical submissions, and method statements.
• Coordinate site activities and monitor installation progress, quality, and compliance with approved drawings.
• Conduct technical inspections and ensure fire protection systems are installed, tested, and commissioned as per project requirements.
• Assist in project planning, material procurement, quantity take-offs, and resource requirements.
• Support project documentation, progress reporting, and coordination meetings.
• Identify technical issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Prepare and review AutoCAD drawings and coordinate design changes as required.
• Support estimation and tendering activities when required.

Requirements:

• 5–6 years of relevant experience in fire protection engineering/project execution.
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering/technical discipline.
• QCDD-certified Firefighting Engineer is mandatory.
• UPDA certification is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of NFPA standards and Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) requirements.
• Proven experience in Oil & Gas, EPC, industrial, commercial, or large-scale construction projects.
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Strong understanding of fire protection systems, installation, testing, commissioning, and project coordination.
• Good communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively under project deadlines and in a site-based environment.
• Manage and coordinate firefighting and fire protection system engineering, installation, testing, and commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Plan and supervise fire protection works to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and within the required schedule.
• Review and interpret fire protection drawings, specifications, technical documents.
• Experience in estimation will be an advantage.
