Job summary

Gray Mackenzie Engineering Services in Qatar is seeking a Painting Supervisor to supervise painting, blasting and protective coating activities on project sites, ensuring safety, efficiency and compliance with project specs.

You will lead painting crews, plan manpower and equipment, coordinate materials and work areas, and ensure surfaces are properly prepared and coated according to standards. A Diploma/Technical Certificate and 5–10 years of industrial painting experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–10 years of industrial painting and protective coating experience.
• 3+ years in a supervisory role preferred.
• Experience on Oil & Gas, petrochemical, refinery, LNG, offshore or industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day blasting, surface preparation, and painting activities.
• Plan and allocate manpower, equipment, materials, and work areas according to project requirements.
• Ensure surfaces are properly prepared before painting.
• Monitor abrasive blasting, cleaning priming, intermediate coating and finishing activities.
• Ensure correct paint materials, coating systems, mixing ratios, and application methods are used.
• Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, dew point, and surface temperature before and during painting.
• Coordinate touch-up, repair, and rework activities.
• Ensure proper cleaning and housekeeping of work areas after completion of activities.

Job description

The Painting Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating painting, blasting, and protective coating activities at project sites, ensuring that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved project specifications, schedules, quality standards, and client requirements.

The role will lead painting crews and coordinate daily activities to achieve project productivity and quality targets while maintaining strict compliance with HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Painting & Blasting Operations

• Supervise day-to-day blasting, surface preparation, and painting activities.
• Plan and allocate manpower, equipment, materials, and work areas according to project requirements.
• Ensure surfaces are properly prepared before painting.
• Monitor abrasive blasting, cleaning priming, intermediate coating, and finishing activities.
• Ensure correct paint materials, coating systems, mixing ratios, and application methods are used.
• Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, dew point, and surface temperature before and during painting.
• Ensure required coating thickness and application standards are achieved.
• Coordinate touch-up, repair, and rework activities.
• Ensure proper cleaning and housekeeping of work areas after completion of activities.

Qualifications

• Diploma / Technical Certificate in Painting, Mechanical Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline is preferred.
• Relevant painting/coating certification or technical training is an advantage.
• Relevant HSE training/certification is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in industrial painting and protective coating works.
• Minimum 3 years in a supervisory role is preferred.
• Proven experience in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, refinery, LNG, offshore, or industrial construction/maintenance projects.
• Experience supervising blasting, surface preparation, industrial painting, and protective coating crews.
• Experience working on large-scale EPC, shutdown, turnaround, maintenance, or construction projects is an advantage.
