Job summary

The Data Center Operations Manager oversees daily facility management, preventative maintenance, and physical security of critical infrastructure. They lead a 24/7 team of facility technicians, manage the OpEx budget, and act as the main point of contact for client escalations, audits, and incident responses.

Key duties include recruiting and scheduling a 24/7 shift-based team, maintaining SLA uptime, supervising maintenance, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with OSHA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience in a critical environment.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing personnel and operations inside a critical facility (Data Center, telecom hub, hospital, or nuclear facility).
• Strong financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting) and crisis communication, conflict resolution.
• Foundational understanding of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems.
• Certifications like CDFOM (Certified Data Centre Facilities Manager), ITIL Foundation, or PMP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Scheduling: Recruit, train, and manage a 24/7 shift-based team of critical facility technicians and engineers, ensuring optimal staffing levels and clear KPIs.
• SLA & Uptime Compliance: Maintain client SLAs and monitor metrics like PUE to ensure continuous facility uptime.
• Maintenance & Change Management: Oversee preventative and corrective maintenance following MOPs and Change Management processes.
• Financial & Vendor Management: Own the OpEx budget and negotiate contracts with third-party vendors.
• Incident & Crisis Management: Lead incident response and post-incident reporting.
• Compliance & Auditing: Ensure health and safety standards and certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2, Uptime Institute M&O).

They lead a 24/7 team of critical facility technicians, manage the operational budget (OpEx), supervise third-party vendors, and serve as the main point of contact for client escalations, audit compliance, and incident responses.

• Team Leadership & Scheduling: Recruit, train, and manage a 24/7 shift-based team of critical facility technicians and engineers, ensuring optimal staffing levels and clear performance KPIs.
• SLA & Uptime Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to client SLAs, monitoring key metrics like Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and ensuring 100% continuous facility uptime.
• Maintenance & Change Management: Oversee the execution of all preventative and corrective maintenance, ensuring all high-risk work follows approved Method of Procedures (MOPs) and Change Management processes.
• Financial & Vendor Management: Own the facility’s operational budget (OpEx). Negotiate and audit contracts with third-party vendors (e.g., fuel delivery, security, specialized equipment manufacturers).
• Incident & Crisis Management: Act as the primary incident commander during facility emergencies (e.g., grid outages, equipment failures), driving fast resolution and managing post-incident reporting.
• Compliance & Auditing: Ensure the facility complies with health and safety standards (OSHA/local regulations) and industry certifications (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, Uptime Institute Management & Operations).

Experience & Requirements

• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience in a critical environment.
• Experience: 5+ years of leadership experience managing personnel and operations inside a critical facility (Data Center, telecom hub, hospital, or nuclear facility).
• Skills: Strong financial acumen (budgeting, forecasting), exceptional crisis communication, conflict resolution, and a foundational understanding of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems.
• Certifications: Highly prefer certifications like CDFOM (Certified Data Centre Facilities Manager) , ITIL Foundation , or PMP.
