Job summary

F. Gheewala Human Resource Consultants seeks a Data Center Commissioning Manager in Doha to lead end-to-end testing of critical infrastructure. The role ensures power, cooling, network, and security systems work together to meet Tier III/IV reliability, with rapid automatic switchover during failures.

You will coordinate L1-L5 testing, validate UPS and power systems, oversee cooling validation, and supervise BMS/DCIM integration with load-bank exercises.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• 5+ years in data center commissioning or related fields
• Knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier Standards, ASHRAE Guidelines 0 and 1.1
• Ability to read single-line diagrams and psychrometric charts
• Experience testing power, cooling, network, security systems

Responsibilities

• Lead L1 to L5 commissioning including FAT, component, functional, and integrated system testing
• Oversee testing of medium/low voltage switchgear, UPS, generators, PDUs, STS

Job description

The Data Center Commissioning Manager leads the comprehensive testing and verification of all critical infrastructure within a facility. They ensure that power, cooling, network, and security systems operate seamlessly together, meet Tier III/IV reliability standards , and can automatically handle system failures without dropping server loads.

• Manage L1 to L5 Commissioning: Lead the entire testing lifecycle, including Factory Acceptance Testing (L2), Component Testing (L3), Functional Testing (L4), and Integrated Systems Testing (L5/Pull-the-Plug test).
• Power Infrastructure Testing: Oversee performance verification of medium/low voltage switchgear, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), generators, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and Static Transfer Switches (STS).
• Thermal Management Testing: Validate mission-critical cooling infrastructure, including chillers, Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAHs), direct evaporative systems, and liquid cooling setups.
• Controls Integration: Supervise the tuning and testing of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platforms.
• Load Bank Coordination: Schedule and execute temporary electrical and thermal load bank testing to simulate full server deployment stresses.
• Failure Mode Operations: Force intentional system failures (e.g., total utility power loss) to verify that backup systems switch over instantaneously.

Experience & Requirements

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent military experience (e.g., Navy Nuclear program).
• Experience: Minimum 5+ years specifically in data center commissioning, critical facilities operations, or heavy industrial MEP construction.
• Industry Standards: Deep knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier Standards , ASHRAE guidelines (Guidelines 0 and 1.1), and local electrical codes.
• Skills: Expert proficiency in reading single-line diagrams, psychrometric charts, and analyzing sequences of operations (SOO)
