Job summary

BAE Systems Strategic Aerospace Services WLL in Dukhan, Qatar seeks an experienced mechanical technician and supervisor to perform detailed maintenance on the Typhoon aircraft and components. You will oversee maintenance activities, ensure compliance with approved data, and guide a diverse team in a dynamic operational environment.

The role requires an engineering apprenticeship and formal aeronautical training, with evidence of leadership at technician level and the ability to diagnose faults

Qualifications

• Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or Military equivalent apprenticeship/qualifications.
• City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent; aircraft platform training.
• Broad and in-depth product knowledge within own technical area.
• Awareness of how the team integrates with others to achieve the overall objectives and demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Experienced leader with a minimum of 2 years working at Technician level prior to supervisory role.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking detailed maintenance, inspection and supervision activities on the Typhoon and its components.
• Assuring work carried out has been completed in accordance with the work package using the relevant approved technical information.
• Resolving faults and maintenance issues, including configuration management.
• Undertaking and completing tasked maintenance and diagnostic activities on the Typhoon aircraft or components including ground handling and servicing as needed.
• Provide guidance and leadership to the team and develop members through on‑the‑job training and performance discussions.
• Maintaining personal task authorisations for working on aircraft or components.
• Ensuring maintenance is undertaken to schedule and addressing issues promptly.
• Undertaking fault evaluation and raising ad hoc work cards for found faults during maintenance.
• Supervising the team to ensure maintenance is on schedule and reporting impacts to the wider program.
• Ensuring staff are competent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them.
• Supporting tasks within the aircraft or component maintenance facility to maintain MOE compliance and Functionally Mandated Procedures.
• Providing leadership and mentorship to the team; developing staff via formal assessments and training requests.

Job Description

The postholder will be an experienced and skilled mechanical technician and supervisor undertakinga range of detailed maintenance activities on the Typhoon aircraft or aircraftcomponents.

The post holderrequires an excellent understanding of the approved technical data set and iscompetent to supervise personnel carrying out maintenance instructions inaccordance with the organisation’s regulatory framework.

Demonstrates adistinct ability to analyze and diagnose faults to aircraft systems, equipmentand assemblies, follow diagnostic procedures and work effectively within ateam. Provide guidance to less experienced team members in a diverse anddynamic operational environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Undertaking detailed maintenance, inspectionand supervision activities on the Typhoon and its components.

• Demonstrate aflexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate tothe role and takes direction appropriately
  


• Maintain personaltask authorizations for working on aircraft or components
  


• Ensuring thatmaintenance is undertaken to schedule and resolve any issues, escape asrequired
  


• Undertaking fault evaluation and raise ad hoc work cards for ‘foundfaults’ during maintenance
  


• Supervising the team to ensure thatmaintenance is undertaken to schedule and highlight any issues, escape asrequired. Report on any impact to the wider program
  


• Ensuring that staff are sufficientlycompetent and approved for the maintenance tasks allocated to them
  


• Undertaking support tasks within theAircraft or component maintenance facility which are required to maintaincompliance with the MOE and
  


• Functionally Mandated Procedures (FMP’s) (e.g.oversight checks, control of tooling / test equipment etc.)”
  


• Provide guidance and leadership to theteam. Develops team members using formal assessment processes, e.g. PDR’s,supports and sponsors training requests including ‘on the job training’.Demonstrates sound and comprehensive communication and people management skillsin order to exchange complicated information
  


• Ability to scope and carry outindependent and vital inspections


• Maintaining apersonal Log Book to demonstrate currency and recency, on completion of On theJob training (OJT) activities, sign other personnel’slogbooks asappropriate within your trade and skills boundaries.
  


• If you are an approveddesignated assessor, undertake authorisation and task competency approvals, andcheck Pt 145 license application packs prior to submission
  

Requirements

• Experienced and competent leader at this level. Requires aminimum of 2 years working at Technician level prior to undertaking aSupervisor role.
  


• Demonstrating breadth of experience, currency & recencyvia a Log Book capturing skills, knowledge and authorities for working onAircraft type or in bays.
