Job Description

Instructors at Qatar Technical Institute (QTI) form the backbone of thetraining ecosystem and play a critical role in delivering high-qualityvocational, technical and defence training in accordance with the Ministry ofEducation and Higher Education (MoEHE) standards. The IT instructor works inthe General Studies department, which forms the first year of a two-yeardiploma.

The primary role of the IT Instructor is to deliver the InformationTechnology curriculum to military students in accordance with all policies andprocesses at the QTI. The role involves teaching and supporting the creation,maintenance, and delivery of Information Technology subjects, includingMicrosoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Email Applications, and Microsoft PowerPoint,to specific standards within the General Studies department.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to plan and implement engaginglessons based on MoEHE curriculum. They will create an inclusive learningenvironment that supports student success while maintaining academic rigor andadherence to institutional standards. The ideal candidate will demonstratestrong communication skills, a commitment to student-centered learning, and theability to inspire interest and achievement in the different subjects withinInformation Technology.

The role involves engaging in regular feedbackmeetings with Senior Instructors in support of continuous improvement of theinstructor’s classes and the department as a whole. Taking ownership of theirclasses and leading by example, the instructor must demonstrate professionalismand flexibility. The instructor must also demonstrate a commitment tocontinuous professional development and continuous improvement initiativeswithin the QTI.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate flexibility and adaptability inresponding to changing priorities, student needs, and organisationalrequirements. They will work collaboratively with colleagues and militarystakeholders to support student achievement and departmental objectives,fostering positive and productive working relationships across theorganisation. The instructor will be agile to meet evolving educational andorganizational requirements, embracing change and maintaining a proactiveapproach to ensure the continued success of students, the department, and theQTI.

Core Responsibilities:

1.TrainingDelivery

• Teach Microsoft Word, MicrosoftExcel, Email Applications, Microsoft PowerPoint, and related InformationTechnology subjects within the General Studies programme.

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaginglessons that meet curriculum requirements and address diverse student needs.

• Apply effective classroommanagement strategies and maintain a positive learning environment.

• Provide academic and pastoralsupport to students throughout their learning journey.

2.StudentProgress

• Assess student learning usingformative and summative assessment methods.

• Provide timely and constructiveoral and written feedback.

• Monitor, record, and report studentprogress, attendance, and behaviour in accordance with QTI requirements.

3.CurriculumDevelopment and Quality Improvement

• Contribute to the development,review, and enhancement of curriculum materials and teaching resources.

• Participate in lesson observations,feedback processes, and professional development activities.

• Support departmental continuousimprovement initiatives and share best practice with colleagues.

4.Administrationand Professional Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate student andadministrative records within required timescales.

• Use approved teaching andadministrative technologies effectively.

• Provide teaching cover whenrequired.

• Follow established communicationand reporting procedures.

• Engage fully with QTI performancemanagement processes and professional standards.

Requirements

Qualification/TradeKnowledge:

  • Demonstrable softskills across a multi-disciplinary department.
  • Ability to use a rangeof teaching and administrative technologies.
  • Strong classroommanagement, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to culturalsensitivity, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated knowledge,skills, professional certifications, and/or industry experience in one or moreof the following subject areas:
  • Java, Python, object-oriented programming, datastructures, algorithms, debugging, testing, computer architecture, assemblylanguage, operating systems, network fundamentals, network configuration,cybersecurity principles, applied cryptography, secure communication, databasedesign, AI concepts, machine learning basics, data modelling, analytics,visualization techniques, forensic principles, evidence acquisition,preservation, reporting, SIEM tools (Splunk, Sentinel, QRadar), cloud, mobile,IoT, encryption challenges, cybersecurity analytics, mathematical reasoningapplied to computing (storage, bandwidth, data representation)., andCybersecurity Project Work.
  • Experience within amilitary setting.

  • In addition to the primary teaching specialism,Instructors may be required to support the delivery, development, assessment,verification, and administration of other subject areas, programmes, ortraining activities within the organisation as directed by the Customer, LineManager, Head of Department, or Head of the Organisation. Such responsibilitieswill be allocated based on the Instructors/Lecturers qualifications,professional experience, industry background, demonstrated competence, andprevious teaching or training experience. Where appropriate, Instructors/Lecturersmay be provided with internal training, mentoring, professional development, orfamiliarisation activities to enable them to undertake additional teaching andtraining responsibilities effectively.
