Job Description

Instructors at Qatar Technical Institute (QTI) form the backbone of thetraining ecosystem and play a critical role in delivering high-qualityvocational, technical and defence training in accordance with the Ministry ofEducation and Higher Education (MoEHE) standards. The English Languageinstructor works in the General Studies department, which forms the first yearof a two-year diploma.

The primary role of the English Language Instructor is to deliver the EnglishLanguage curriculum to military students in accordance with all policies andprocesses at the QTI. The role involves teaching and supporting the creation,maintenance, and delivery of English Language subjects, including EnglishLanguage 1 and English Language 2, to specific standards within the GeneralStudies department.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to plan and implement engaginglessons based on MoEHE curriculum. They will create an inclusive learningenvironment that supports student success while maintaining academic rigor andadherence to institutional standards. The ideal candidate will demonstratestrong communication skills, a commitment to student-centered learning, and theability to inspire interest and achievement in the different subjects within theEnglish Language department.

The role involves engaging in regular feedback meetings with SeniorInstructors in support of continuous improvement of the instructor’s classesand the department as a whole. Taking ownership of their classes and leading byexample, the instructor must demonstrate professionalism and flexibility. Theinstructor must also demonstrate a commitment to continuous professionaldevelopment and continuous improvement initiatives within the QTI.

2.StudentProgress

  • Assess student learning usingformative and summative assessment methods.
  • Provide timely and constructiveoral and written feedback.
  • Monitor, record, and report studentprogress, attendance, and behaviour in accordance with QTI requirements.

3.CurriculumDevelopment and Quality Improvement

  • Contribute to the development,review, and enhancement of curriculum materials and teaching resources.
  • Participate in lesson observations,feedback processes, and professional development activities.
  • Support departmental continuousimprovement initiatives and share best practice with colleagues.

4.Administrationand Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate student andadministrative records within required timescales.
  • Use approved teaching andadministrative technologies effectively.
  • Provide teaching cover whenrequired.
  • Follow established communicationand reporting procedures.
  • Engage fully with QTI performancemanagement processes and professional standards.
  • Maintain a professional classroomenvironment.

5.Health,Safety and Environment (SHE)

  • Comply with all QTI health, safety,and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Complete all mandatory SHE trainingand demonstrate safe working practices.

Requirements
Qualification/TradeKnowledge:
  • Holds qualified teacherstatus or a relevant education and training qualification (e.g. PGCE, B.Ed.,M.Ed., MA, BA, Diploma, or equivalent) in an English Language subjector a related field.
  • Relevant experienceteaching English to international students in a range of contexts.
  • Demonstrable softskills across a multi-disciplinary department.
  • Ability to use a rangeof teaching and administrative technologies.
  • Strong classroommanagement, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to culturalsensitivity, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience within amilitary setting.
  • Teaching experience inthe Middle East.
  • Arabic language.
  • In addition to the primary teaching specialism,Instructors may be required to support the delivery, development, assessment,verification, and administration of other subject areas, programmes, ortraining activities within the organisation as directed by the Customer, LineManager, Head of Department, or Head of the Organisation. Such responsibilitieswill be allocated based on the Instructors/Lecturers qualifications,professional experience, industry background, demonstrated competence, andprevious teaching or training experience. Where appropriate,Instructors/Lecturers may be provided with internal training, mentoring,professional development, or familiarisation activities to enable them toundertake additional teaching and training responsibilities effectively.
