KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Description
- Respond to fire alarms and emergency calls to protect lives, property and environment.
- Operating tools and equipment used for firefighting safely and effectively
- Providing appropriate medical care within their scope of knowledge in emergency situations
- Analyzing hazardous situations and thinking of quick solutions and actions
- Inspect scenes of fire or accidents to identify causes or discover significant findings
- Participates in specialist stand‑by duties using firefighting equipment’s breathing apparatus and specialist rope rescue equipment during plant routine maintenance and emergency situation.
- Participates and mobilize the rope rescue equipment’s onsite for stand‑by duties such as high‑risk elevated activities and confined space entry.
- Conduct the plant site inspection for confined space entry and prepare the rescue plan
- Maintain Comprehensive knowledge of the local topography
- Conduct Gas Test inside the plant premises
- Conduct Basic Firefighting training for plant employees.
- Conduct daily routine foam trailer inspection and maintain the record
- Handling different types of stretchers for emergency use.
- Write accurate reports after incidents and submit them to Senior Firefighter
- Clean and maintain personal equipment and keep it ready for use
- Participate in fire drills as a way to stay alert and up-to-date with job duties
- Ensures operation of Firefighting equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
- Evaluates new Firefighting equipment and techniques.
- Follow all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- Perform other related duties or assignments as directed by supervisor / line Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS
Minimum Qualifications
- Secondary School Certification from a recognised professional institute
- Minimum 3 to 6 Months Firefighting Training from a recognised professional institute
- First Aid certification or NEBOSH certificate preferred.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the integrated Steel plant/Oil and gas industry/Petrochemical.
Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical)
- Understand basic Hazardous Material response procedures.
- Very good knowledge in Firefighting with strong and demonstrated experience in handling / managing emergency situation along with drafting reports.
- Ability to work effectively with fellow employees and management personnel at all levels to include multinational staff
- Ability to work in a team environment and sometimes independently with minimal supervision as the task may be from time to time
- Demonstrate the ability to think clearly and calmly under stress situations.
- Good relationship building skills.
- Skill handling personnel from a multi-cultural work environment.
- Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Good decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Good understanding of Qatar and GCC culture and working environment.
