Job summary

VAM Systems is seeking an Exchange & Infrastructure Administrator for Bahrain operations to lead installation, upgrades, and ongoing management of Exchange Servers (2016/2019) in on-premises environments, ensuring zero data loss and minimal user disruption.

The role covers AD, mail flow protocols (SMTP/IMAP/POP3), virtualization (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V), storage (SAN/NAS/iSCSI), backups, DR testing, and automation with PowerShell; candidates should hold a IT degree and relevant certifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent field.
• Vendor-specific certifications (VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSE/Messaging) are highly advantageous.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
• Understanding of SMTP/IMAP/POP3 mail flow and SSL/TLS certificates.

Responsibilities

• Lead Exchange SE installation & upgrades from legacy versions to Exchange Server Subscription Edition with zero data loss.
• Install, update, and manage on-premises Exchange Servers (2016/2019) across physical and virtual systems.
• Configure and monitor DAGs; perform routine database defragmentation and storage management.
• Provision and maintain VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V environments to support messaging infrastructure.
• Manage Active Directory schemas, replication, permissions, and GPOs tied to Exchange.

VAM Systems is currently looking for Exchange & Infrastructure Administrator for our Bahrain operations with the following skillsets & terms and conditions:

Required Technical Skills & Qualifications

• Education & Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent field. Vendor-specific certifications (VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSE/Messaging) are highly advantageous.
• Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience managing Windows Server and Active Directory environments.
• Networking & Mail Protocols: In-depth understanding of standard mail flow protocols (SMTP, IMAP, POP3), local load balancers, split-brain DNS setups, and SSL/TLS certificates.
• Network Infrastructure: Strong functional literacy with layer 4-7 hardware load balancers, split-brain DNS zone configurations, firewalls, and complex mail-routing rules.
• Virtualization Expertise: Deep operational literacy provisioning and managing multi-hypervisor nodes via VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V ecosystems.
• Automation Proficiency: Strong proficiency writing advanced administrative PowerShell scripts for bulk mailbox operations, configuration audits, and log analysis.
• Problem Solving: Proven track record troubleshooting Tier-3 mail delivery failures, tracking down transport delays, and handling database corruption recovery.
• Hardware & Storage: Solid background managing enterprise storage frameworks (SAN/NAS/iSCSI).

Key Responsibilities

• Exchange SE Installation & Upgrades: Lead the architectural planning, clean installation, and technical upgradation from previous Exchange legacy versions (2016/2019) to Exchange Server Subscription Edition (SE), ensuring zero data loss and minimal user disruption.
• Exchange & Infrastructure Management: Install, update, and manage standalone and clustered on-premises Microsoft Exchange Servers (2016/2019) across physical and virtual systems.
• High Availability & Database Care: Configure, monitor, and optimize multi-site Database Availability Groups (DAGs). Perform routine database defragmentation, stability audits, and proactively manage storage caps.
• Virtualization Administration: Provision, scale, and maintain enterprise hypervisor environments using both VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V to support core messaging infrastructure.
• Active Directory Alignment: Manage schema extensions, directory replication, permissions, group policies, and object compliance directly tied to the underlying Microsoft Exchange messaging infrastructure.
• Server Patching Pipelines: Manually plan, validate, and deploy Cumulative Updates (CUs) and Security Updates (SUs) across all local Exchange and Windows Server hosting nodes.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement regular bare-metal backup strategies and lead verification drills for instant disaster recovery and mail database restoration.
