Hamad International Airport in Doha seeks a disciplined supervisor to oversee rubber removal and surface cleaning operations across runways, taxiways and aprons. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ job-related experience, or a Bachelor’s with 2 years.
  • 2–3 years in a supervisory role within airfield maintenance.
  • Experience with airfield pavement equipment (sweepers, friction testers, rubber removal machines).
  • Familiarity with ICAO regulations and airfield maintenance standards.
  • Strong English communication skills (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules with Motor Transport Section.
  • Minimize downtime by coordinating repairs and keeping equipment operational during peak periods.
  • Ensure equipment is in safe, operable condition via scheduled inspections.
  • Maintain logs of maintenance activities, parts, and performance parameters.
  • Provide training for operators on equipment use and safety.
  • Prepare KPI reports with the Line Manager to drive improvements.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and supplier coordination.
  • Lead toolbox talks and uphold high safety standards.

Job description

Responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance and personnel involved in rubber removal and surface cleaning activities across runways, taxiways and aprons at both Hamad International Airport and Doha International Airport. This role ensures full compliance with aviation safety regulations, maximizes equipment performance, and coordinates efficient scheduling of cleaning operations to uphold runway friction standards and maintain continuous operational readiness.

  • Coordinate with Motor Transport Section for preventive maintenance schedules for all pavement maintenance equipment to ensure timely performance of maintenance.
  • Manage equipment breakdown/corrective repair through coordination with Motor Transport Section to minimize downtime and ensure equipment are operational during peak periods.
  • Ensure vehicles/equipment (rubber removal, sweepers, friction testers etc.) in proper working conditions through scheduled inspections and monitoring program to ensure equipment safety and availability.
  • Maintain comprehensive and detailed logs of all maintenance activities, parts replacements, and other key parameters to track and analyze equipment performance.
  • Ensure team competency through coordinated training for operators on proper equipment use, safety, and best practices for sweepers, friction testers, rubber removal equipment’s, and blowers to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
  • With line manager, develop and present Equipment Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Reports to track performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage the inventory of spare parts, consumables, and tools essential for maintenance and repair, optimizing stock levels to minimize waste, prevent shortages, and enhance efficiency.
  • Coordinate effectively with suppliers and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for timely maintenance, repairs, calibration, and upgrades of all equipment.
  • Operate mechanical sweeper and rubber removal equipment as required, demonstrating hands‑on proficiency.
  • Manage equipment utilization by analyzing equipment availability reports and service schedules for all airfield equipment.
  • Manage and execute adverse weather recalibration exercises, providing operators with updated training on emergency protocols to ensure robust emergency preparedness.
  • Ensure understanding and implementation of work plan through engaging in pro‑active communication with equipment operators to ensure high performance of team.
  • Manage and facilitate regular toolbox talks to guide co-workers on maintaining the highest safety standards throughout all stages of project execution, proactively preventing accidents or incidents.
  • Perform other department duties related to his / her position as directed by the Head of the Department.
About you:
  • High School Qualification / Vocational Qualification /Diploma or Equivalent with Minimum 3 years of job‑related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 2 years of job‑related experience Preferred
  • At least 2-3 years in a supervisory role within airfield maintenance.
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge and experience of airfield pavement equipment (e.g., sweepers, friction testers, rubber removal machines)
  • Familiarity with local statutory requirements and Code of Practice regulations
  • Formal training or certification in equipment operation or maintenance
  • Experience working in a multi‑airport environment
  • Exposure to emergency response planning and adverse weather operations
  • Ability to supervise in‑house equipment operators and outsourced vendors
  • Ability to schedule personnel and manage daily operations
  • Ability to prepare various types of reports
  • Competence in reading and understanding specifications, operation manuals, and preventive maintenance checklists
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills in English, across all levels
  • Awareness of airport operational constraints and safety requirements
  • Attention to detail during routine inspections
  • Familiarity with statutory regulations and compliance standards
  • Demonstrated leadership with a customer‑focused approach
  • Responsible and proactive attitude toward work Preferred
  • Familiarity with regulations and requirements of airside facilities
  • Knowledge of ICAO regulations and airfield maintenance standards
  • Understanding of airfield safety protocols
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
