Job summary

Qatar Foundation International is seeking an experienced editorial leader to oversee end-to-end publication workflows and maintain high standards for scholarly outputs.

You will collaborate with researchers, publishers, and communications teams to translate complex research into accessible content and ensure alignment with institutional goals.

This role demands strong writing, rigorous editing, and Arabic language proficiency, with oversight of a diverse range of publications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Linguistics, Communications, Journalism, Translation Studies, or related field.
• 6–8 years in academic publishing; 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience building editorial workflows and translating research for public content.
• Knowledge of APA/Chicago or equivalent, peer review, and journal submissions.
• Excellent writing and editing skills; Arabic proficiency is required.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with Zotero/Mendeley is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine end-to-end editorial and publication workflow.
• Establish research quality and reputation framework and standards.
• Provide substantive editorial feedback on research papers and outputs.
• Ensure consistency of tone, style, and formatting across publications.
• Manage the full publication pipeline from draft to publication.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders for timely delivery.
• Identify publication venues aligned with the organization’s priorities.
• Contribute to annual and long-term publication planning.
• Translate complex research into accessible formats (policy briefs, summaries, blogs, scripts).
• Collaborate with communications to align outputs with institutional messaging.
• Develop formats and platforms for disseminating research to diverse audiences.
• Support relationships with publishers, journals, and research institutions.
• Liaise with partners for co-publications and collaborative outputs.
• Stay informed of publishing trends to position research effectively.
• Oversee and maintain the research publications section of the website.
• Develop and maintain internal publication catalogs and archives.
• Enhance digital presentation and discoverability of research outputs.
• Other reasonable tasks as assigned by supervisor.
