Design Review Engineer – Sewage Infrastructure

Job summary

Khatib & Alami is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to review, coordinate and manage the technical design aspects of large, multi-disciplinary sewage infrastructure projects in Qatar.

You will ensure designs, drawings, specifications and technical submissions comply with approved design requirements, local standards and international codes, while working with clients, contractors and government agencies to obtain approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional qualifications from a recognized international institution.
• Chartered Engineer status desirable.
• Minimum 15 years of demonstrable experience, including a minimum of 7 years on large construction projects.
• Knowledge of Qatar codes and standards (QHDM, QTM, WZTMG, QCS) and international codes where applicable.
• Design software proficiency is compulsory.
• Ability to assess construction-stage design changes and technical constraints.
• QDRS system awareness and document-uploading requirements for approvals.
• Experience with sewage projects of similar size including pump stations and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Construction supervision on large projects.

Responsibilities

• Review designs and technical submissions to minimize design errors and project costs.
• Coordinate technical solutions to unforeseen constraints and avoid clashes between disciplines.
• Review and comment on contractors’ and consultants’ submissions and recommend acceptance or otherwise.
• Coordinate design deliverables with the construction sequence and project programme.
• Review shop drawings and as-built drawings against the approved design.
• Ensure design deliverables align with construction sequences and timelines.
• Provide timely technical recommendations to support stakeholder requirements and project delivery.
• Support planning and project teams in sequencing activities to project completion.
