Galfar Al Misnad Engineering and Contracting W.L.L. is seeking a seasoned Commissioning Manager to lead all commissioning activities for a hyperscale data center project from design review to handover.
The role requires 10–15 years in commissioning, with at least 5 years in mission-critical facilities and familiarity with major hyperscale clients. You will manage large teams, ensure safety, quality, and adherence to ASHRAE/NFPA/IEC standards.
The Commissioning Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, managing, and executing all commissioning activities associated with a hyperscale data center project. This includes Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), ELV, BMS, and IT infrastructure systems from design review through Integrated Systems Testing (IST), client acceptance, and operational handover.
The role ensures compliance with project specifications, client standards, industry best practices, and commissioning procedures to deliver a fully operational and resilient facility.
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum 10-15 years of commissioning experience. Minimum 5 years in mission-critical facilities or hyperscale data centers. Direct experience with Microsoft, Google, AWS, Meta, Oracle, or other hyperscale clients is highly desirable. Experience managing large commissioning teams on projects exceeding 20MW IT Load preferred.

Develop and execute the project Commissioning Strategy, Commissioning Plan, and turnover roadmap aligned with project milestones and client requirements. Lead commissioning activities across Mechanical, Electrical, ELV, Controls, and mission-critical infrastructure systems from design review through final handover. Review design documents, sequences of operation, and control philosophies to ensure commissionability, reliability, maintainability, and compliance with hyperscale standards. Manage system readiness by verifying completion of construction, QA/QC inspections, ITPs, pre-functional checklists, and punch-list clearance activities. Oversee startup, testing, and commissioning of HVAC, chilled water, fire protection, MV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, batteries, and fuel systems. Direct commissioning of BMS, EPMS, DCIM, SCADA, Fire Alarm, Security, Access Control, CCTV, and network infrastructure systems. Plan and lead Functional Performance Testing (FPT) and Integrated Systems Testing (IST), including failure scenarios, utility outages, and redundancy validation (N+1, 2N, and 2N+1). Act as the primary interface with clients, consultants, vendors, and operations teams, managing witness testing, approvals, and operational readiness reviews. Ensure preparation, review, and handover of all commissioning documentation, including test scripts, test reports, O&M manuals, as-built drawings, training records, and final commissioning reports. Maintain the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance through enforcement of PTW/LOTO procedures and adherence to ASHRAE, NFPA, IEC, Uptime Institute, and client-specific requirements.
