Job summary

Nakilat in Qatar seeks a Senior Commercial Manager to lead ship chartering and commercial operations. You will oversee charter party negotiations, develop strategy for utilized fleet, and coordinate with Fleet Division, Legal and JV partners to maximize earnings and compliance.

You will build relationships with major clients, identify new opportunities, and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements while driving efficiency and profitability across the commercial function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation or related field.
• 8–10 years in oil/gas transportation with 3–5 years in LNG/LPG chartering or similar.
• Strong knowledge of charter-party proformas and regulations.
• Excellent policy writing and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute chartering strategy to optimize utilization and earnings of the operated fleet, including owned, JV and chartered vessels.
• Negotiate shipping contracts and charter party terms with internal stakeholders to secure favorable deals and administer agreements.
• Ensure all contractual/charter party obligations are communicated and followed by stakeholders.
• Oversee ongoing activities related to time charter parties, pooling and post-fixture agreements.
• Coordinate with fleet division, customers and JVs to optimize fleet costs and tonnage requirements.
• Identify new trading patterns and routes to maximize fleet utilization.
• Solicit charterers’ satisfaction and identify improvement areas.
• Lead negotiations and provide recommendations on shipping claims with Fleet and Legal, as needed.
• Track industry trends that could impact Nakilat’s fleet division.
• Support projects and investments as required.
• Aim for maximum voyage cost optimization and drive OPEX efficiency.
• Conduct due diligence on new projects and chartering opportunities.
• Explore opportunities to expand Nakilat Commercial shipping services globally.
• Prepare bi-annual board package on operational, financial and commercial performance.
