Job summary

Mackinnon Mackenzie & Co of Pakistan is seeking a senior leader to drive business development and oversee construction-related activities in Qatar and across regional markets. The role requires coordinating with contractors, partners and internal teams to ensure projects meet design, schedule and budget targets.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering, 12 years of progressive management experience, fluent English and Arabic as a plus, and MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee business development activities in Qatar and regional markets (EMEA, Americas, APAC)
  • Manage relationships with contractors, developers, business partners and agencies
  • Coordinate and supervise construction activities at plant sites to meet design, time and budget goals
  • Provide weekly progress updates to the Chief Business Development Officer on strategic plans, analyses and financial impact
  • Lead meetings with contractors, developers and purchasers to develop new business in Qatar
  • Review EPC progress reports and highlight major issues to senior leadership
  • Demonstrate understanding of company capabilities to fuel growth
  • Analyze major economies/markets where projects are active and assess future opportunities
  • Lead market trend analysis to identify investment opportunities aligned with growth strategy
  • Ensure external/internal environment factors are captured in business planning
  • Build relationships with market research firms, consultants and advisors for market insights
  • Present feasibility analyses of opportunities and coordinate with M&A and Finance on studies
  • Develop and implement department strategy aligned with company objectives
  • Ensure department plans align with company vision and mission
  • Provide senior leadership with guidance on cutting-edge developments
  • Operate under mandates from the Chief Business Development Officer

Qualifications

Responsibilities
  • Manage business development activities in Qatar, as well in the EMEA, Americas and APAC regions, assessing business opportunities relating to existing and new potential power/water assets.
  • Manage business activities and relationships with contractors, developers, business partners and other agencies involved in Our projects and programs.
  • Coordinate and supervise all construction activities at plant sites, in collaboration with the Head of Construction, ensuring projects are completed according to design specifications, on time, and within budget.
  • Ensure that the Chief Business Development Officer is weekly updated with the latest construction progress including strategic plans, technical analysis and financial impact/outcome of all construction projects, construction growth and expansion plans.
  • Manage the contractual & technical meetings and discussions with contractors, developers, purchasers and other agencies intending to jointly develop new business with Our company in Qatar.
  • Review EPC contractors’ weekly and monthly progress reports; highlight major issues to the Chief Business Development Officer.
  • Demonstrate clear understanding of company’s construction capabilities and key competencies to fuel future growth.
  • Display a good understanding of the major economies/geographic markets in which Our company has ongoing construction projects and assess potential appetite for future construction business projects.
  • Lead business trends analysis in EMEA, Americas, APAC markets by reviewing reports of detailed quantitative and qualitative research, identifying new investment opportunities and ventures at targeted locations in alignment with our company’s overall growth strategy.
  • Take a leading role in understanding external & internal EMEA, Americas, APAC environment (economic, political, social, competitive, regulatory factors) and ensure that the same is captured in business planning process.
  • Build strong working relationships with market research firms, external consultants, advisors and other key sources for relevant market information.
  • Present technical feasibility analysis related to prospective business opportunities within the EMEA, Americas, APAC regions, highlighting key risks and issues, and coordinate with M&A and Finance teams to prepare comprehensive business/financial studies.
  • Develop and direct implementation of the department strategy ensuring alignment to divisional strategy, our company vision, mission and corporate objectives.
  • Ensure that department strategy and related strategic plans are developed and implemented, aligned with the vision and mission of the organization.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for the assigned domain and counsel company leadership on all related areas to facilitate achievement of company strategy and divisional strategies.
  • Lead effective achievement of departmental objectives through leadership, setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating team to maximize performance.
  • Lead talent development initiatives for the department, collaborating with discipline experts to ensure availability of talent to fit business requirements.
  • Oversee consolidation and recommendation of department budget, monitor financial performance vs budget to identify unsatisfactory performance and cost reduction or improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and lead implementation of department policies, systems, processes, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned function, ensuring procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering quality, cost‑effective service.
  • Lead change management through continuous improvement of department systems, processes and practices considering global standards and business environment changes.
  • Ensure all department reports are prepared timely and accurately and meet company requirements, policies and quality standards.
  • Participate in execution of company’s comprehensive long‑term business strategy, contributing to strategic goals and objectives within the functional area.
  • Provide senior leadership with insightful guidance to assimilate cutting‑edge developments and innovations into business/operational strategies.
  • Operate under mandates authorized by the Chief Business Development Officer, ensuring high standards of oversight and reporting.
