Job summary

Swan Global in Qatar is seeking a detail-oriented AutoCAD Draftsman cum Document Controller to support LV and MV switchgear projects, drafting SLDs, wiring, and control diagrams, and maintaining drawing registers.

The role requires 3–5 years in AutoCAD drafting and document control for electrical projects, with preference for LV/MV switchgear and oil & gas, power, or industrial sector experience. Diploma or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Title: AutoCAD Draftsman cum Document Controller

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented AutoCAD Draftsman cum Document Controller to support Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and revising electrical drawings, maintaining project documentation, and ensuring accurate document control throughout the project lifecycle. Experience in electrical engineering projects, particularly in the power or oil & gas sector, is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

AutoCAD Drafting

• Prepare and update electrical drawings, including:
  • Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
  • Wiring diagrams
  • Schematic and control diagrams
  • Panel layout and termination drawings
• Revise drawings based on engineer, client, and site comments.
• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, standards, and applicable codes.
• Maintain drawing registers and revision history.
• Prepare as-built drawings upon project completion.

Document Control

• Maintain and control all technical and project documentation, including drawings, procedures, method statements, and engineering documents.
• Implement document control procedures, numbering systems, and revision management.
• Register and track incoming and outgoing documents.
• Ensure proper version control and timely distribution of approved documents.
• Monitor document submission status (submitted, reviewed, approved, commented).
• Archive project documents in an organized and easily retrievable system.

Coordination & Project Support

• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, suppliers, and manufacturing teams regarding drawing updates and technical documentation.
• Track engineering deliverables and report progress to stakeholders.
• Ensure confidentiality and security of project documents.
• Provide drafting and documentation support throughout the project execution phase.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Drafting, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in AutoCAD drafting and document control for electrical engineering projects.
• Experience with LV/MV switchgear projects is highly preferred.
• Experience in the Oil & Gas, Power, or Industrial sector is an advantage.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of electrical drawings, switchgear layouts, and control schematics.
• Familiarity with document control systems and revision management.
• Knowledge of relevant electrical standards and engineering documentation practices.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
