Job summary

Petrotec in Qatar seeks a Design Engineer to develop and refine LV switchgear designs, ensuring manufacturability and cost efficiency. You will align designs with production capabilities, quality standards, and client requirements while supporting continuous improvement and timely delivery.

You will collaborate with production and QA teams, perform calculations and simulations, and prepare BOMs and maintenance manuals. Candidates should bring strong software skills and a proactive design mindset.

Qualifications

• Graduate or Diploma in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of LV switchgear products and applications.
• Experience with design documentation and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed engineering designs, drawings, and specifications suitable for the process.
• Collaborate with production, quality, and procurement teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
• Perform design calculations, simulations, and prototype testing to validate concepts.
• Optimize existing product designs to improve manufacturability, reduce costs, and enhance performance.

Roles & Responsibilities

QHSE Responsibilities

• Comply with all QHSE standards, policies, and procedures relevant to your work
• Actively participate in QHSE meetings and complete all required safety inductions and trainings
• Identify and report unsafe conditions; take corrective action where possible within your scope
• Follow guidance provided by QHSE officers and use PPE and emergency equipment correctly
• Support a safe work environment by cooperating with safety practices and encouraging others to do the same
• Refer to the OHSMS Manual, Section 4.4.1, for further clarification on individual QHSE responsibilities and accountability

Requirements

Education

• Graduate or Diploma in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, or a related field

Experience

• 7-8 years of experience in designing complex LV switchboards, including IMCS and communication systems using the latest digital numerical protection relays
• Experience working on Oil & Gas projects will be an added advantage
• Experience with Eaton products will be preferred
