Job summary

Baker Hughes in Qatar is seeking a Thermal Spray Operator to support the ARMO Tech - Equip II line at the Qatar Service Center. You will operate and program thermal spray equipment, prepare lab samples, and work with the cell leader to meet BH standards.

The role requires a HS Diploma or GED, 5 years of coatings experience on gas turbine components, and the ability to read drawings. Experience with ABB robots, Kawasaki robots, and Robot Studio is a plus. A strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 5 years experience in coatings of gas turbine components.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and coating specifications.
• Operation and programming of CNC equipment or production robots.

Responsibilities

• Operates, programs and maintains thermal spray equipment per work instructions and customer specs.
• Prepares laboratory samples and approves new sprays and processes.
• Collaborates with cell leader to develop fixtures for new product lines.
• Performs changeovers and ensures products meet drawings and specs.
• Maintains safety and quality standards and performs routine maintenance on equipment.

The Thermal Spray operator will work with respective cell leader of the Qatar Service Center to make sure all BH standards and Organizational need are met. He / She will also be responsible to perform Thermal Spray on Gas Turbine's Combustion and Hot Gas path components by Using ABB Robotic manipulator in the organization.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities):

• Operates, programs and maintains specialized thermal spray equipment in accordance with work instructions and customer specifications.
• Preparation of laboratory samples / approval of new sprays and processes.
• Works with cell leader in the development of required fixtures for new product lines.
• Performs part changeovers and execution of work according to product specifications, drawings, and work instructions.
• Performs all work in accordance with plant safety rules and maintains highest quality standards in the execution of all assigned work.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance on all machines and other routine labor work as required in accordance with production flow.
• Preparation of components (masking and surface preparation)
• Blending/Polishing to remove overspray by using pneumatic grinders
• Vacuum furnace operations as requires
• He/ she shall be utilized on Welding, Grinding, Assembling, Shot peening, Bucket Moment weight etc... as requires
• Maintain a clean work area and contribute towards overall housekeeping efforts and other duties as needed
• Updates digital shop systems related to assigned work (Digital Work Order, Time Vouchering, Operation completion)
• Ensure the work area is compliance with HSE requirement
• Full compliance with BH Policies / Procedures

To be successful in this role you will:

• Must have HS Diploma or GED. Strong shop mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions required.
• On the job experience of 5 years in coatings of gas turbine components.
• Must be able to read and interpret drawings and coating specifications.
• Operation and programming of CNC equipment or production robots.
• Required Minimum knowledge on ABB Robots&IRC5 Controllers operations

Desired Characteristics:

• Basic understanding of industrial safety;

• Kawasaki Robots programing is an added value
• Proficiency on Robot Studio & Metco Coating Consoles is an added value.
