The Rotating Equipment Technician is part of the Central Maintenance Team and is responsible for carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance activities in accordance with the AMS ME Process for the Pearl GTL Complex. The person in this role will be responsible for maintaining critical rotating equipment according to approved maintenance strategies, procedures, and work instructions. This ensures the availability and integrity of Rotating equipment and systems, in alignment with the company's requirements.
The Rotating Equipment Technician role is crucial to the Pearl GTL Asset organization, ensuring that Central Maintenance delivers according to plan. Compliance with the company's Code of Conduct, procedures, and Permit to Work are mandatory requirements.
Key responsibilities include executing maintenance jobs on time, safely, and with high quality while driving continuous improvement. Accountabilities also include: Diagnose and resolve complex issues, non-compliance, and overhaul large and small rotating equipment; troubleshoot and maintain dry gas seals & wet Seals, white metal bearings, and mechanical transmission assemblies. Perform cold/hot alignment on-site; inspect gas turbines (CI/HGPI/Major) and steam turbines (Minor/Major); commission and test rotating equipment; check shafts, stator/rotor, and bearing clearances. Establish job plans, cost estimates, and durations; compile maintenance and integrity activity plans; identify spare parts requirements and update re-order quantities; manage contract services. Specify controls for engineering hazards; modify plant systems per approved change requests; interpret technical drawings, OEM manuals, and standards; apply correct tools and precision measuring instruments. Maintain air systems, hydraulic components, and apply proper lubrication types and methods.
Technical education in an engineering discipline to at least Diploma level or equivalent. Minimum 8 years to 12 years of proven experience in the Oil/Gas/Petrochemical industry, specifically in the maintenance of large rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, engines, and generators. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in safety-critical activities. Knowledge of using handheld and online equipment condition monitoring systems. Knowledge of using vibration analysers and interpreting records. Understand rotating equipment international standards and DEPs. Knowledge of machining operations in workshop machine tools. Knowledge of dynamic balancing of rotating equipment.
