Job summary

Baker Hughes in Qatar seeks an experienced Rotor Balancer to join our service team at the Doha facility. You will perform balancing, machining, and assembly of gas turbine rotors and related components, ensuring accuracy and compliance with BH standards.

The role requires a Diploma in Engineering, 8+ years of relevant experience, and fluency in English. You will operate balance machines, turning and finishing equipment, and maintain documentation and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Engineering and 8+ years in balancing and machining on gas turbine rotors.
• Experience with dynamic balancing processes and machine operation.
• Understanding of engineering drawings and rotor disassembly/assembly.

Responsibilities

• Operate balance machines to locate imbalance on rotors and components.
• Perform turning, drilling, milling, grinders and boring to spec; assemble/disassemble rotors.
• Conduct dye penetrant inspection, dimensional/run-out checks, and document results.
• Maintain equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and keep the work area clean.
• Update digital work orders, report time, and ensure HSE compliance.

As a Rotor Balancer, you will work with respective cell leader of the Qatar Service Center to make sure all Baker Hughes standards and Organizational needs are met. You will also be responsible for Perform balancing, machining, mechanical balancing related activities on the gas Turbine rotors and components in the organization.

Essential Functions (Responsibilities)

• Operating dynamic balance machine (Horizontal / Vertical) to locate points of imbalance on parts, such as rotors, compressor discs, shaft, impeller wheels and balances parts by removing excess metal, using hand tools and power tools, or adding weights.
• Operating Turning, Drilling, Milling, Grinders, and boring activities to required specifications and performing assembly & disassembly of rotors (Gas Turbine / Compressor).
• Performing visual dye penetrant inspection and dimensional, run out (Mechanical & Electrical) and visual inspections of rotors / Gas Turbine related components.
• Completing required documentation with accurate information such as routers / job card, labor reporting, checklist, and inspection reports.
• Performing preventive and breakdown maintenance of machines, balancing facility and all its auxiliaries.
• Maintain a clean work area and contribute towards overall housekeeping efforts and other duties as needed
• Updates digital shop systems related to assigned work (Digital Work Order, Time Vouchering, Operation completion)
• Ensure the work area is compliance with HSE requirement
• Full compliance with BH Policies / Procedures

To be successful in this role you will:

• Hold a Diploma in Engineering from an accredited Institute or college or Highschool.
• Have minimum 8+ Years of relevant experience in balancing, machining, mechanical balancing related activities on the gas Turbine rotors and components.
• Have experience in dynamic balancing processes and machine operation (Horizontal & Vertical) using belt / coupling drive.
• Have understanding of engineering drawings & specifications.
• Have Rotor disassembly / assembly knowledge
