Lever, Inc. in Portugal is seeking a Tech Architect Practitioner to lead architecture engagements across applications, cloud, data, security, and delivery.

This senior consulting role translates business priorities into pragmatic technology solutions and roadmaps. You will assess current environments, define target architectures, identify risks, and present recommendations to CTOs, CIOs, and Heads of Engineering.

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tech Architect Practitioner based in Portugal.

This is a senior technical consulting role focused on helping investors, portfolio companies, and technology leaders make effective architecture decisions that support measurable business outcomes. You will lead complex architecture engagements across applications, cloud, infrastructure, integration, data, security, and software delivery. The role combines deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, requiring you to translate business priorities into pragmatic and scalable technology solutions. You will assess current technology environments, define target architectures, identify risks and constraints, and establish practical transition roadmaps. You will work closely with senior technology and business stakeholders, communicating complex technical topics with clarity and confidence. The environment is collaborative, fast-moving, and focused on solving complex technology challenges through practical, evidence-based recommendations.

Accountabilities

• Lead technical architecture workstreams across complex client engagements, assessing applications, infrastructure, cloud environments, integration patterns, data platforms, and technical constraints.
• Define pragmatic target-state architectures that align business priorities with application, infrastructure, data, security, scalability, resilience, and delivery requirements.
• Advise clients on technology platform and architecture decisions, including cloud platforms, application modernisation, infrastructure, integration, software delivery tooling, data platforms, and analytics environments.
• Translate business and technology requirements into clear architecture principles, technical designs, transition approaches, and delivery priorities.
• Develop and present architecture recommendations that are credible to senior technology leaders while remaining accessible and actionable for non-technical stakeholders.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, technical debt, architectural constraints, and delivery challenges, recommending practical mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with client teams and multidisciplinary specialists to ensure architecture decisions support product, engineering, cloud, security, data, and broader transformation objectives.
• Challenge assumptions and pressure-test proposed designs, balancing strategic ambition with cost, complexity, resilience, and time to value.
• Develop prioritised technology roadmaps that help clients move from current-state limitations toward scalable, resilient, and fit-for-purpose technology capabilities.

Requirements

• Significant experience in technical, solutions, or enterprise architecture, software engineering, or related technical leadership roles, with a proven track record of designing and delivering complex technology solutions.
• Strong practical knowledge of modern technology architectures and platforms, including cloud services, application architecture, infrastructure, integration patterns, software delivery practices, security, and reliability.
• Demonstrated experience assessing existing technology estates and defining target-state architectures, transition strategies, and delivery roadmaps.
• Strong understanding of cloud technologies, security, resilience, observability, performance, scalability, and operational considerations.
• Meaningful expertise in data architecture and modern data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes, lakehouses, integration patterns, data modelling, data governance, data quality, and analytics.
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, practical recommendations for senior business, data, and technology stakeholders.
• Credibility when working with senior technology leaders, including CTOs, CIOs, CDOs, Heads of Engineering, Heads of Data, and enterprise architects.
• Experience across the full technology lifecycle, from architecture and platform design through software delivery, deployment, operations, modernisation, and continuous improvement.
• Practical and hands-on mindset, with the ability to move between architecture design, technical problem-solving, and client-facing advisory work.
• Consulting, advisory, or multi-client delivery experience is desirable, together with the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and fast-moving environments.
