Job summary

TeamViewer, a leading Digital Workplace platform, is seeking an experienced engineering leader in Porto to coach and develop a group of Team Leads, align multiple agile teams, and own the delivery and long-term evolution of our backend services powering our products.

You will drive roadmap execution with Product Management, ensure high availability, security and performance, oversee capacity planning and hiring, and promote engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with modern development practices.
• 4+ years in a managerial role within software development, ideally agile.
• 1+ years leading leaders (Team Leads/Engineering Managers) including coaching and performance growth.
• Proven track record leading multiple teams building and operating backend services in production.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, architecture, scalability, and dev-ops lifecycle.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; fluent in English; Portuguese or German a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a group of Team Leads, helping them grow as people managers and technical leaders.
• Build a strong leadership bench with regular 1:1s and feedback cycles; grow future leaders.
• Create alignment across Team Leads for multiple agile teams toward shared goals.
• Own the delivery and evolution of backend services with balance of features, security and debt.
• Drive roadmap execution with Product Management and stakeholders; translate business needs into priorities.
• Ensure backend meets availability, performance, security and compliance standards.
• Collaborate across engineering to ensure scalable solutions and shared standards.
• Oversee capacity planning, resource allocation and hiring to support growth.
• Promote engineering excellence and agile practices across development, testing, deployment and operations.
• Support professional development of your team through coaching and career planning.
• Act as link between engineering and senior management; translate progress and risk into updates.
• Champion open communication, psychological safety, ownership and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product and engineering teams across the company on integration, shared standards and scalable solutions.
• Oversee capacity planning, resource allocation and hiring to support growth and delivery.
• Promote engineering excellence and agile best practices across development, testing, deployment and operations.
• Support the professional development of your team through coaching, feedback and career planning.
• Act as a key link between engineering and senior management, translating technical progress and risk into business-relevant updates.
• Champion a culture of open communication, psychological safety, ownership and accountability.

Requirements

• A university or college degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a solid understanding of modern development practices.
• 4+ years in a managerial role within software development, ideally in an agile environment.
• 1+ years of experience leading leaders (Team Leads or Engineering Managers), including coaching them, managing their performance and growing them into stronger leaders.
• Proven track record of leading multiple teams building and operating backend services in production through a layer of Team Leads.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, software architecture, scalability, and the full development and operations lifecycle.
• Experience with services that have high requirements for security, reliability and backward compatibility is a strong plus.
• Experience in strategic planning, team building and performance management, including hiring and onboarding Team Leads.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire across teams and stakeholders.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); Portuguese or German is a plus.
