KCS IT, based in Lisbon, is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Systems Specialist with 5–10 years of hands-on experience. The role focuses on managing and supporting Unix-based environments, including AIX and Linux with strong RHEL/Debian knowledge in enterprise settings.

The ideal candidate will excel in scripting/automation (Bash, ksh, Python, Ansible), system security, and cross-functional collaboration. Some remote/hybrid work options and international projects may be available.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent).
• 5–10 years of experience managing and supporting Unix-based systems.
• Significant production experience with AIX and Linux; strong knowledge of RHEL and Debian in enterprise environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Unix operating systems (Linux, Solaris, AIX).
• Experience with SSH hardening, PAM, auditd, CIS benchmarks and privileged access controls.
• Shell scripting and automation tools like Ansible; idempotent scripts and structured logging.
• Networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP; Linux/Unix networking (VLANs, bonding, routing, NTP).
• Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to work under pressure; strong communication.
• Certifications such as RHCE or LPIC are preferred.

The amazing you, will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience managing and supporting Unix-based systems.
• Significant production experience with AIX and Linux is expected, with strong knowledge of RHEL and Debian operations in enterprise environments.
• In-depth knowledge of Unix operating systems (e.g., Linux, Solaris, AIX).
• In-depth knowledge should explicitly include IBM AIX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Debian; Solaris knowledge is a plus where legacy environments exist.
• Strong understanding of Unix/Linux boot process, system services, package management, patching, filesystems, LVM, multipathing, networking, logging, authentication and performance troubleshooting.
• Experience with shell scripting and automation tools.
• Strong scripting and automation skills: Bash, ksh, Python where applicable, Ansible, idempotent scripts, structured logging, error handling, secure secret handling and operational reporting.
• Strong understanding of system security, permissions, and compliance.
• Security knowledge should include SSH hardening, sudo/PAM, auditd/audit subsystem, SELinux/AppArmor awareness, account governance, patch/vulnerability remediation, CIS/vendor baselines and privileged access controls.
• Familiarity with network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Strong operational knowledge of Linux/Unix networking: VLANs, bonding/teaming, routing, DNS, NTP/chrony, LDAP/Kerberos awareness, firewalls, TCP troubleshooting and packet capture analysis.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC), or similar are preferred.
