Job summary

ALTEN Portugal is seeking an experienced Civil Engineer specialized in Structures to lead and coordinate structural design across building projects in an international setting. You will supervise analyses, modeling, drawings, BIM coordination, and act as the main technical interface with clients and consultants, ensuring design excellence and timely delivery.

With 10+ years in structural engineering and strong leadership, you will guide multidisciplinary teams and travel as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structures.
• 10+ years of professional experience in structural engineering projects in the building sector.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis and design software (Tekla, Robot, CYPE or similar).
• Experience in project management and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Excellent communication and ability to work with international teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate structural engineering activities across complex projects.
• Develop structural models, calculations, and technical documentation.
• Review and manage designs with external consultants and BIM models.
• Ensure compliance with codes, standards, milestones, and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform structural analyses and engineering assessments to evaluate and optimize design solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Develop structural models, calculations, technical specifications, reports, and engineering documentation.
• Coordinate and manage structural design activities performed by external consultants, ensuring alignment with project objectives and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support the development and review of technical drawings and BIM models.
• Lead and coordinate structural engineering teams, providing technical guidance and project oversight.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, technical standards, key milestones, budget constraints, and quality objectives.
• Review and oversee the preparation of complex engineering deliverables while mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
• Act as the primary technical interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve technical challenges and design-related issues arising during project execution.
• Review, approve, and implement design modifications and technical requirements throughout project development.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Structures or an equivalent qualification.
• Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in structural engineering projects within the building sector.
• Strong practical knowledge of structural analysis and design software such as Tekla, Robot, CYPE, or similar tools.
• Solid understanding of national and international structural design codes, regulations, and engineering standards.
• Proven experience in project management and multidisciplinary engineering coordination.
• Strong planning, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within international and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong commitment to quality, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
• Motivation to contribute to large-scale and internationally recognized engineering projects.
• Availability and willingness to travel when required.
• Fluency in Spanish and English (minimum B2 level).
