Job summary

Dremio is seeking a staff-level software engineer to join the Connectivity team in Porto. You will own sizable connectivity features, design scalable systems, and drive complex projects from concept to release.

You will collaborate across teams to ensure API stability and reliable data access, while mentoring others and contributing to open-source efforts. You will work with Java/C++/Rust/Go, design APIs and protocols, and tackle root-cause analysis in production environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of production software engineering experience or equivalent ownership of complex systems.
• Deep proficiency in Java, C++, Rust, Go or another systems language.
• Experience designing and debugging APIs, protocols, client libraries, drivers, or distributed services.
• Ability to identify and solve non-obvious problems across client/server boundaries.
• Experience building comprehensive unit, integration, and performance tests.

Responsibilities

• Own substantial connectivity work from problem definition through release readiness and handoff.
• Define milestones, acceptance measures, dependencies, estimates, and risks for complex goals.
• Design scalable, maintainable systems across drivers, protocols, and distributed services.
• Lead root-cause analysis across client/server boundaries using logs and production evidence.
• Maintain API and protocol stability and define practical migration paths for clients.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Support, and external partners to resolve dependencies.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to upstream open-source projects when aligned with priorities.
• Use AI-assisted tools responsibly and validate results through review and testing.
