SQL Server DBA: Performance, HA & Cloud Modernization

Job summary

Nimber is seeking an experienced SQL Server DBA to support a banking-focused project, managing and modernising critical database infrastructures in a multi-database environment (SQL Server, with exposure to Sybase).

This role entails hands-on administration, automation, and infrastructure modernization, with opportunities to contribute to cloud initiatives and emerging database technologies.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration in production environments.
• Strong TSQ L and PowerShell scripting abilities.
• Experience with Always On and transactional replication for HA.
• Migrations, upgrades and infrastructure maintenance experience.
• Familiarity with cloud DB services (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Knowledge of SQL Server 2022/2025 capabilities is a plus.
• English and French language skills considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize Microsoft SQL Server environments (2014+).
• Lead upgrades, migrations and platform modernization.
• Develop and maintain TSQ L and PowerShell scripts for automation.
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks and optimize.
• Implement high-availability solutions including Always On.
• Support dev teams with query tuning and stored procedures.
• Monitor production DBs and participate in incident resolution.
• Contribute to DB projects with Azure/AWS/GCP and BI integrations.
• Maintain documentation and DR planning.
