Job summary

Nimber is seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator to manage, optimise and modernise critical bank-grade database infrastructures in a multi-database environment, primarily MS SQL Server with exposure to Sybase. You will drive performance, security and high availability in production systems and contribute to cloud initiatives.

You’ll automate operations with T-SQL and PowerShell, support development teams, and participate in migrations, incidents and disaster recovery planning.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration in production.
• Strong T-SQL and PowerShell scripting capabilities.
• Proven performance tuning, troubleshooting and query optimisation.
• Hands-on experience with Always On Availability Groups and Transactional Replication.
• Experience with SQL Server migrations and infrastructure maintenance.
• Understanding of database architecture, security and networking.
• Experience with monitoring, incident management and production support.
• Knowledge of Microsoft BI tools (SSRS/SSIS/SSAS) and Power BI Report Server.
• Familiarity with change management, release processes and disaster recovery.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• English and French language skills.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain and optimise Microsoft SQL Server environments (2014+).
• Manage upgrades, migrations and platform modernisation initiatives.
• Develop and maintain T-SQL and PowerShell scripts for automation.
• Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks and apply optimisation strategies.
• Implement high availability solutions including Always On AG and replication.
• Support dev teams with SQL queries, stored procedures and modelling.
• Monitor production databases and participate in incident resolution.
• Manage changes, deployments and release activities.
• Administer and optimise SSRS/SSIS/SSAS and Power BI Report Server.
• Perform audits, maintenance and security compliance checks.
• Contribute to business continuity and DR exercises.
• Maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Participate in cloud initiatives involving Azure, AWS and GCP.
• Explore SQL Server 2022/2025 capabilities and PolyBase/Hadoop integrations.
