Job summary

Next Engineering in Lisbon is seeking a NEXT IT SQL Developer (SQL Server) to join our team in a hybrid work model.

You will develop, maintain and optimize advanced SQL queries, create stored procedures and functions, and drive performance tuning to ensure fast, reliable database solutions.

Requirements include a degree in Computer Science or related field, 3–6 years of MS SQL Server experience, and fluency in English and Portuguese; salary is 1400–2000€ base plus benefits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Strong knowledge of SQL, including advanced queries, stored procedures and functions.
• Experience in query optimization and SQL Server performance tuning.
• Fluent in English and Portuguese.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimize advanced SQL queries.
• Create, maintain and optimize Stored Procedures and SQL functions.
• Analyze and improve SQL Server database performance through performance tuning.
• Identify and troubleshoot performance issues in queries and Stored Procedures.
• Support database optimization initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with technical teams to ensure efficient and reliable database solutions.
• Contribute to improving database development processes and practices.
• Apply best practices to ensure query efficiency, data integrity and database performance.

What are we looking for?

• A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Informatics or a related field;
• At least 3 years of professional experience with Microsoft SQL Server;
• Strong knowledge of SQL, including advanced queries, Stored Procedures and functions;
• Experience in query optimization and SQL Server performance tuning;
• Good level of English and fluency in Portuguese;
• Knowledge or experience in DevOps practices is a plus.
