Job summary

Chain IQ in Hamburg seeks a Strategic Sourcing Senior Consultant – Logistics & MRO to optimize transport, warehousing, and related services across global markets. You will lead RFQ/RFP processes, negotiate terms, and drive year-on-year cost improvements while ensuring compliance and supply continuity.

The role requires 2–4+ years in sourcing/category management within logistics, fluent German and English, and a proven ability to work in international, matrix organizations.

We are seeking a passionate, analytically driven Strategic Sourcing or Industry Expert to enhance our procurement processes in the category of Logistics. This role is perfect for seasoned professionals who have an in-depth understanding of the Transport and Warehouse industry from a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and supply chain perspective. About The Role

The Tactical Sourcing Senior Consultant – Logistics & Consumables is responsible for supporting and executing category strategies for Transport, Warehouse as well as Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO), tooling, PPE, and safe workwear across manufacturing and operational footprint.

The role drives cost optimization, supply continuity, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, sustainability, and regulatory standards in a food and nutrition manufacturing environment. is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing transportation and warehousing service providers across key markets to ensure cost-effective, reliable, and compliant logistics operations. The role focuses on tactical and mid-term sourcing execution aligned with category strategies, ensuring continuity of supply, service performance, and rapid response to operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute sourcing activities for transport (all modes), warehousing & consumables.
• Prepare and run RFQs/RFPs, including eAuctions in line with category strategies and business demand.
• Negotiate rates, service levels, and contractual terms to deliver savings and service improvements.
• Deliver year-on-year logistics cost optimization through tactical initiatives (rate reviews, lane optimization, capacity balancing).
• Manage regional supplier relationships (OEMs, dealers, leasing companies, service providers).
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, food standards, and safety requirements.
• Act as the commercial interface between internal stakeholders and external partners.

Requirements

• University degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) or equivalent professional experience.
• Fluent in German and English is mandatory.
• 2 - 4+ years of experience in:
  • Sourcing or category management experience.
  • Logistics & consumables sourcing, transport, warehouse, Maintenance, Repair & Operations (MRO), tooling, PPE, and safe workwear categories.
  • Experience with RFQs/RFPs, negotiations, and contract management.
• Experience in logistics and operationally intensive environments is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills.
• Comfortable working in international, matrix-driven organizations.
• Execution-oriented with a strong operational mindset.
• Structured, pragmatic, and resilient in fast-paced environments.
