Job summary

Thales Group in Paço de Arcos, Portugal, is seeking a Solution Architect for Air Traffic Management. You will act as the technical leader of customer projects, ensuring architectures meet safety, security and performance requirements throughout the lifecycle.

Define and maintain the ATM solution architecture, translate requirements into robust designs, lead architectural decisions and coordinate with software, systems and hardware teams.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Significant experience in Solution Architecture, Software Architecture, Systems Engineering or Technical Leadership within complex engineering projects.
• Proven experience designing and delivering complex, mission-critical systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the solution architecture for Air Traffic Management projects, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and technical constraints.
• Analyse customer and operational requirements and translate them into robust, scalable and effective technical solutions.
• Lead architectural decisions and ensure technical consistency across the different system components.
• Identify and manage technical risks, assumptions, dependencies and trade-offs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Hardware, Integration and Verification & Validation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, security, regulatory and contractual requirements.
• Act as the main technical interface with customers, project managers and internal stakeholders on solution architecture matters.
• Support system integration, verification, validation, deployment and customer acceptance activities.
• Contribute to the continuous evolution of Thales solutions, identifying opportunities for technical improvements and new capabilities.
• Experience in Air Traffic Management (ATM), Air Traffic Control (ATC) or other safety-critical industries, such as railway signalling, avionics or energy (highly valued).
