Iterable, the AI customer engagement platform, seeks a Software Engineer I in Lisbon to contribute to complex tasks and collaborate with teams to deliver innovative solutions in a primarily remote environment.

You will work with Scala/Java, Docker/Kubernetes, React, and cloud tech such as AWS, Pulsar, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Postgres. English fluency and EU work eligibility are required.

How you will make an impact:

As a Software Engineer I at Iterable, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of customer engagement. You’ll take on increasingly complex tasks, using company best practices to guide your work. You’ll collaborate with your team to deliver innovative solutions, while proactively seeking feedback and identifying potential challenges.

• Complete assigned tasks that are comprehensive and thought out
• Proactively collaborate with team members to find the best solutions
• Form opinions while seeking input from a diverse group of team members on how to solve a problem
• Recommend solutions to enhance existing processes and understand resources available to overcome unforeseen issues
• Learn to proactively anticipate small roadblocks to accomplishing tasks and use knowledge of business unit processes to navigate
• Learn to manage expectations and accurately gauge effort needed to accomplish objectives

We are looking for people who have:

• 1-3 years of relevant software development experience.
• Familiarity with building scalable web applications.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (ideally Scala and/or Java)
• Exposure to Elasticsearch and/or other relevant technologies like Postgres.
• Desire to work in a highly remote/distributed but collaborative environment. (Iterable has offices in San Francisco, Denver, New York and Lisbon but the vast majority of Engineering has chosen to work remotely)
• Willingness to take on-call responsibilities.
• Fluency in English (verbal and written).
• Legally authorized to work in the EU.
• Programming Language: Scala
• Infrastructure: Pulsar, Kafka, AWS
• Other Relevant Technologies: Docker / Kubernetes, React

The base salary range for this position in Lisbon, Portugal, is €43,000 – €54,000 per year (gross). This range is provided in anticipation of the requirements of the EU Pay Transparency Directive ( 2023 970 ), which EU member states are implementing into national law, and reflects the expected compensation at the start of employment for this role.The final offer will be determined by your experience, qualifications, and performance throughout the selection process, while ensuring alignment with our internal equity principles.
