The Work You'll Do:

The Software Engineer can leverage technology to solve difficult problems at scale, taking into consideration aspects like security, performance, reliability, and maintainability. This role challenges the individual to adapt quickly and work effectively as a developer, sharing technical knowledge and build and deploy high quality software that satisfies our customers.

More specifically you will:

• Build, test, deploy and maintain a client-facing API hosted in the Apigee Edge SaaS platform.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, Architects and Business Analysts to refine requirements and designs
• Participate on cross functional teams to deliver solutions from the point of inception through customer delivery
• Seize opportunities to improve processes, standards, and practices
• Work as a team member and with more senior developers on complex stories & tasks
• Develop software consistent with Sovos coding standards & conventions
• Collaborate in a fast-paced agile environment under tight deadlines to “ship” new releases each sprint
• Take part in an active culture of learning by exploring new technologies and participating in knowledge sharing

What We Need From You:

• Competent in SDLC and an active participant in all major activities (Planning, Stand Up, Story Time, etc.)
• Develop skills using TDD and CI practices
• Function competently as an individual contributor, completing relatively small tasks independently
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Development Managers, Quality Assurance, Business Analyst and other technical staff to refine requirements and designs
• Participate on cross functional teams to deliver solutions from the point of inception through customer delivery
• Improve processes, standards and practices
• Work as a team member and with more senior developers on complex stories & tasks
• Develop programs consistent with Sovos coding standards & conventions
• Build skill in at least one specific technical expertise ( Web-Services, RESTful APIs, Web Development and etc.)
• Able to triage and resolve simple engineering escalations
• Work with other team members to solve complex problems
• Capable of troubleshooting issues & bugs within area of application with expertise
• Applies defined practices / procedures to design, implement, and support individual software projects
• Authors or contributes to technical design documentation, release notes, bug fix documentation
• Performs and designs testing protocols to ensure that the product is fully tested
• Delivers production ready code of high quality which satisfies all functional and non-functional requirements
• Multitasks in a fast paced environment while maintaining integrity, reliability, ethical practices and a professional focus on projects.
• Knowledge of XML, JSON, SOAP, RESTful APIs
• Expertise on NodeJS framework and NPM packages
• Expertise on Unit-Testing with (Jest, Mocha etc.)
• Knowledge of OAS3
• Expertise on such tools like APIGEE (Kong, Mulesoft, Layer7, API Mgmt Tools) is a plus
• Advanced English skills (written and verbal)
• Experience with unit and integration tests and frameworks like Jest or Mocha
