This hybrid role offers about 70% remote and 30% on-site in Lisbon, Porto or Fundão. Ideal candidates have 7+ years Android experience, strong Kotlin, BLE expertise, and a track record publishing apps.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Android Developer to join an innovative healthcare technology project focused on connected mobile and IoT solutions.

You will design and develop new features for Android healthcare applications that communicate with external devices through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). You will also contribute to application maintenance, performance, quality, and release management.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop Android healthcare applications using Kotlin
• Create new features that communicate with connected devices through Bluetooth and BLE
• Design reliable communication flows between mobile applications and IoT devices
• Maintain and evolve existing Android applications
• Diagnose and resolve connectivity, compatibility, performance, and stability issues
• Take ownership of Android application release processes
• Collaborate closely with technical leads and other engineering teams
• Ensure code quality through testing, reviews, and software engineering best practices
• Optimise application performance, reliability, and user experience
• Contribute to Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain clear technical documentation

Mandatory Requirements

• More than seven years of professional Android development experience
• University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Strong and autonomous Android development experience
• Advanced proficiency in Kotlin
• Proven experience with Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy
• Deep, hands‑on BLE expertise, preferably in IoT or connected‑device solutions
• Experience publishing and releasing Android applications
• Strong object‑oriented programming skills
• Experience with Git or equivalent version control systems
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of deliverables
• Excellent written and spoken English at C1 level
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• Availability for the hybrid working model in Lisbon, Porto, or Fundão

• Experience with iOS development
• Experience with cloud platforms or cloud‑connected mobile applications

You are comfortable working independently, making technical decisions, diagnosing complex connectivity issues, and owning the application release process. You combine strong software engineering fundamentals with clear communication and effective collaboration.

Experience with healthcare technology, medical devices, or IoT ecosystems will be particularly valuable, as will a strong commitment to reliability, security, accessibility, and user experience.
