Somincor – Sociedade Mineira de Neves Corvo, S.A. is seeking an experienced Mining Engineer to create and track short-term production plans aligned with safety and efficiency goals. The role collaborates daily with operations and technical teams to optimize mine development and ensure executable plans.

You will monitor performance, analyze deviations, and propose corrective actions to meet targets for tonnage, ore grade, and productivity, while upholding safety and environmental standards.

Qualificações

• Master's degree in mining or related field and 5+ years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of mine ventilation and planning software.
• Excellent command of English, written and spoken.
• Experience with Deswik CAD/Deswik Scheduler, Vulcan and Excel.

• Provide technical support to Production and Development teams and participate in decision-making.

Mission: Create, update, and track short-term plans (monthly, quarterly, and yearly), making sure they align with the company's strategic goals in terms of production, safety, costs, and business sustainability. Work daily with operational and technical teams, promoting continuous optimization of mining activities and ensuring the plans are executable. Monitor operational performance, analyze deviations between planned and actual results, and suggest corrective actions to ensure targets for tonnage, ore grade, mine development, and productivity are met.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop short-term production plans for a production area, defining production sequences, horizontal and vertical development activities, and backfilling operations.
• Ensure the availability of production and development headings by optimizing mining sequences, resource utilization, and access management, in order to maximize the value of the Mineral Resource and minimize operational risks.
• Provide technical support to the Production and Development teams, participating in decision‑making processes and collaborating in the definition of operational priorities.
• Ensure that plans are practical and executable in collaboration with operational, technical, and safety teams.
• Monitor compliance with production plans and propose corrective actions whenever necessary.
• Contribute to value creation through studies of different mining methods, optimization of mining sequences, and improved utilization of Mineral Resources, in close collaboration with the Geology and Rock Mechanics teams.
• Ensure compliance with the “General Standards for Safety, Health, Environment and Communities” across all areas and facilities under the Department’s responsibility, in order to meet applicable legislation, ensure safe and appropriate working conditions, and minimize the impact of Somincor’s activities on the environment and surrounding communities.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in similar roles.
• Knowledge of mine ventilation.
• Advanced written and spoken English language skills.
• Proficiency in mine planning software, including Deswik CAD, Deswik Scheduler, and Vulcan.
• Strong command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
