Job Summary

The Senior Security Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure infrastructure and cloud environments at Allia Health Group. Reporting to the Principal Cloud & Security Ops Engineer, this role will focus on ensuring system integrity, responding to security incidents, and embedding security best practices throughout the technology stack. The position requires hands-on technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate across engineering and product teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage security controls across cloud and on-premise infrastructure.
  • Lead vulnerability management, monitoring, and remediation processes
  • Support design and maintenance of secure CI/CD pipelines with integrated security practices
  • Contribute to the implementation of identity and access management policies and encryption standards
  • Participate in incident detection, investigation, and response
  • Conduct regular security assessments, penetration tests, and audits
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to embed security into applications and platforms
  • Document processes, create runbooks, and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team

Required Qualifications

  • Ideal Degree(s): BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, or a related field
  • Experience: 4–7 years in cloud or security engineering roles

Must-Have:

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (Google Cloud preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable)
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, and container security practices
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or equivalents)
  • Understanding of network security, firewalls, and VPNs
  • Experience with security scanning, monitoring, and SIEM tools
  • Hands-on experience in incident response and vulnerability remediation
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred: Google Cloud; Looker; Vertex AI; UiPath; N8N; CI/CD with GitHub & Google Cloud; React; PostgreSQL; Docker; Kubernetes; and other role-adjacent tools
  • Candidates with AWS experience are welcome but Google Cloud is preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Working in Madeira in a shared office space, remote in Portugal, or remote in a Portuguese timezone-friendly location
  • Flexibility to shift portions of the day to increase time zone overlap with US CST time zone
