Job summary

Remote Crew is seeking a Senior QA Engineer to become the first dedicated quality hire. You will design and build the test automation platform from scratch, set quality standards, and help developers own the quality of what they ship.

The role is fully remote with preference for candidates in Portugal or Spain. You will work closely with the CTO and product owners to define test levels, create data, and drive end-to-end testing across Terraform/OpenTofu workflows.

Qualifications

• Senior level experience in QA automation, SDET, or platform engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform or OpenTofu.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Hands-on containers and Kubernetes experience.
• CI/CD pipelines you built yourself (not just used).
• Strong production-level coding in Python, Go, or TypeScript.
• Proven experience building a test automation framework from the ground up, including test data and environments.
• API-first testing depth with Playwright, Cypress, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Define what 'tested' means across the platform (levels, gates, coverage).
• Build a test automation framework developers can extend.
• Create reliable test data and disposable environments using real cloud resources.
• Design contract and integration tests across services.
• Build end-to-end coverage for key workflows.
• Write regression suites covering provider, version, and cloud combos.
