Job summary

Gleeds in Sines, Portugal, is seeking a Professional Project Manager to lead the delivery of a data centre campus construction on-site five days a week. You will support the Project Director, ensure quality, and align with client objectives.

The role requires strong communication with contractors and vendors, strict attention to schedule, budget, and compliance, and a methodical, team-oriented approach to manage complex installations.

Qualifications

• Project management experience on large-scale construction projects (mission-critical, energy, industry).
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Sound knowledge of project management techniques and processes.
• Methodical thinking and disciplined approach to work.
• Strong numeracy, problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office tools (Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
• Able to work effectively within a team.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Director in delivering business objectives.

• Facilitate clear communication among contractors, client, and Gleeds team to resolve issues.
• Coordinate with vendors/contractors to ensure on-time delivery and installation of critical equipment.
• Monitor progress of construction and on-site installations; conduct regular site walks for safety and progress checks.
• Record and report non-conforming work and drive corrective actions to completion.
• Coordinate and optimise on-site activities to minimize waste and improve efficiency.
• Prepare and monitor technical submissions; assist in change management and delay assessments.

Job description

Professional Project Manager responsible for the delivery of a data centre campus construction.

Location: Sines, Portugal. This role requires being on-site during the work week (5 days per week). No rotation or fly-in/fly-out arrangement applies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Supporting the Project Director in delivering business objectives
• Delivering high-quality services and deliverables ensuring that services meet our Customer’s requirements.
• Ensuring the quality and compliance of construction and installation works in accordance with the project specifications, budget, and schedule.
• Facilitating clear and effective communication between all parties, including general contractors, the client, and the Gleeds project team, to ensure alignment and timely resolution of issues.
• Working closely with vendors and contractors to ensure on-time delivery and installation of project-critical equipment.
• Monitoring and controlling the progress of construction and installation on-site.
• Taking regular site walks to promote and observe safety and progress, reporting and tracking any corrective actions through to timely completion.
• Monitoring on- and off-site works, recording and reporting non-conforming work, and driving the team for follow-up, preventative, and close-out actions.
• Ensuring that construction and installation activities are fully coordinated and optimised to eliminate wasteful activity on site.
• Preparing and monitoring technical submissions.
• Assisting in the change management process, including the review and assessment of proposed variations and any actual or anticipated delays.
• Working with the appointed general contractor to ensure that appropriate method statements are in place and signed off by the relevant parties in advance of installation.
• Advising directors promptly of any issues that have arisen, or may arise, on projects; in particular those that might impact on Gleeds professional indemnity (PI) insurance.

• Sound knowledge and practical experience of project management techniques
• Excellent communication skills - both oral and written.
• Methodical way of thinking and approach to work.
• Excellent problem-solving, negotiating, financial and numeracy skills
• Sound ICT skills, with a high proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Fluency in English.
• Available to work in Sines 5 days per week (no rotation applies).

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering degree or technical education in a related field.
