Jobgether is supporting a Senior ML Engineer – Malware Detection role, coordinating with a partner company to drive end-to-end ML lifecycle in a remote-first setup in Portugal. The candidate will design, train, and deploy advanced ML models to detect web-based malware across Linux hosting environments, leveraging cutting-edge techniques and large real-world datasets.

Qualificações

• At least five years of production ML experience, including adversarial domain such as cybersecurity, fraud, or abuse prevention.
• Transformer models: training, fine-tuning, LoRA/QLoRA, distillation and quantization.
• Classical ML: gradient boosting, linear models, calibration, handling imbalanced data.
• Rigorous evaluation: leakage-free splits by time and malware family, fixed FP constraints.
• Inference & cost optimization: measure throughput/latency, CPU/memory constraints, ONNX/vLLM.
• Strong Python, PyTorch, HuggingFace skills; SQL for large datasets (ClickHouse or equivalent).
• Web tech familiarity: PHP or JavaScript; asynchronous collaboration and feedback integration.
• AI-assisted engineering: use of AI coding agents to support development.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher; strong written communication.
• Analytical mindset and ownership across ML lifecycle.

Responsabilidades

• Lead development, evaluation, and deployment of ML systems to improve malware detection at scale.
• Classify malware vs benign content and triage samples for appropriate detection engines.
• Automate signature generation from evolving malware campaigns.
• Context-aware threat detection including phishing pages, webshells, and injections.
• Improve detection precision and cleanup effectiveness post-remediation.
• Rigorous model evaluation with time-based and campaign-based splits; regression testing.
• Optimize throughput, latency, and cost for deployment across large hosting fleets.
• Move models from experimentation to production with shadow deployments.
• Incorporate analyst feedback and retraining cycles for continuous improvement.
• Develop reusable training pipelines and GPU resource management.
• Collaborate with analysts, engineers, and infra teams; document decisions and results.
• Meet milestones: production-data model in first month; multiple models by month three.
